Walking Boot of Doom Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 Thing is, Crean will land somewhere when this is all said and done, making a couple million a year. JBJ and Bryant on the other hand... you're both supposed to be first rounders and you can't make communication work on this team? Neither have stepped up to lead? Not good for two guys who's performances have not exactly aligned with first rounder expectations. What a weird season. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Quote

HoosierD Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 Listening to CBS' Eye on College Basketball podcast hosted by Gary Parrish. Crean and his job security came up and Parrish talked about how he knows people who have tried pushing Crean to go to a "soft landing" spot like Pastner did, going from Memphis to Ga Tech. Parrish said that Crean's reply to these people was always absolutely not, he's the Indiana coach, he isn't going anywhere, etc. Things can always change, but that's a perspective from someone in the industry that hasn't been talked about yet. Norlander made it sound like it was ridiculous that we want the guy gone the year after a conference title. Some of the national guys just don't understand the reasoning as to why. They think it is because we haven't won games this year, when in reality it is how we have lost the games and how it hasn't changed in 9 years. Love listening to that podcast, but didn't expect him to be that out of touch with this topic. Hoosierfan2017 1 Quote

IU basketball since 2011. 2 big ten championships and 7 years of not finishing higher than 5th since he got here. The national guys saying "but he won the conference last year" don't get that we want him gone because of the instability of his program. 2011: 11th2012: 5th2013: 1st2014: T8th2015: 7th2016: 1st2017: 10th (proj) moyemayhem, hsrtxp and MikeRoberts 3 Quote
Stuhoo Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 If I had acted like him during games when I was a little kid I probably would've been grounded before I could fasten my seatbelt for the ride home. If Crean was serious about wanting Bryant to be a leader he would've stopped his antics a long time ago. Crean is OK with Bryant acting like that because Bryant is one of the very few players on the team who consistently acts like he gives a sh!t. And given the relative reactions to adversity on this team, I'm OK with that. 8bucks, BGleas, Hoosierfan2017 and 2 others 5 Quote

ctown2grhoosier Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 I just don't see how Glass can keep him. Next year we're losing a lot of talent with no new talent coming in. It'll be worse than this year. Fans have already turned on crean, if this happens next year and Crean is still there all the blame will be on glass. Both are charter members of the Mediocrity Admiration Society. Dakich is putting it ALL on the players... he said "do it his (Crean's) way, you win big. do it your (the player's) way, you lose". What a load of crap. Sure it's partly on the players, but who's starting them, leaving them in the game, not "coaching" them. It's on Crean Quote
Yogi's Picnic Basket Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 Landing someone like Donovan will also allow us to keep some of our players as well.Donovan would attract the elite kids who back out from coaching changes and reclassing late as well as grad transfers. Donovan won't put a product not worth at least top 5 of the B1G. The best part is he probably wins us a title during a year we don't expect it. Come tourney time if we have some talent I have faith in a run with him. I love Stevens and would gladly take him but Billy is my top target. Our chance to land him is now cause 5 years from now....Duke and Syracuse will surely be calling. UNC and maybe U of L as well. Kansas and Arizona as well as UCLA seem to be steady for awhile. Alford could ruin that at any time though.Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app Hoosier Guy, Happydaze, pumpfake and 2 others 5 Quote

Glass cannot extend him now, so it seems there is no other logical choice for all parties involved but a mutual parting of ways in a mere few weeks. Alford Bailey 1 Quote

Yogi's Picnic Basket Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 Cal has said he has 5 to 10 years left too but I think he leaves for the NBA closer to the time he wants to call it quits. One last chance at redemption for him. So it is either make our run now or compete with Duke, Cuse, UNC, UK, and U of L. We won't get him then so let us go full force. I still believe deep down Crean stays for some reason though. The hardcore fans will start to fade. Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app Quote

Last caller put him on the spot with: At what point does IU's problems start to fall on Crean? Dakich said yes it does fall on him, after sunshine pumping Crean for calling out players. Lmao.
