I'm so tired of the excuses. Here is a FB from someone who graduated from my HS. He is currently a HS basketball coach so to be fair he isn't a basketball dummy, but still

" My 2 cents on Tom Crean and firing him. His players aren't good, aren't talented (outside of a couple), and they play with no heart. Yeah part of that is his fault, but what can a coach do when your big man, who was supposed to be a stud, is soft, your best scoring guard can't stay healthy, your leader goes down, and your best player plays a very shortened season. You take any other coach in NCAA and give them this team, they wouldn't make much of a difference. You're a year removed from losing on of the best PG's in school history and a wing that has produced in the NBA. Talent wins games, not just coaching. "

I just don't get this after all we have seen the last 6 seasons.

No offense to him, but I think that post is crap. We still have more talent on the roster than most teams we play. We have 2 McDonald's All Americans and some high 4 stars. If it was true that we don't have talent then that's on Crean. He picks these guys and he's supposedly a 'great recruiter'. Yogi was a senior. Crean knew he was leaving and didn't have a replacement lined up. That's on him. The fact they play without heart is a reflection of the coach leading them. Again, that's on him. It seems like the Crean defenders still don't want to put any of the blame on him. I don't know what it is about Crean that has them so enamoured.

Crean DID have a replacement for Yogi... still does. Josh Newkirk IS his guy. He got him from Pittsburgh, coached him through his "sit out" year, talked him up like he was the 2nd coming... and this is what we get. So Crean has his Yogi replacement, it's just that, well, Newkirk, is NOT a Yogi prospect, despite the great recruiter's opinion.

That's true.. The fact he expected a guy who averaged 6 points on 38% shooting at Pittsburgh to replace someone like Yogi is a testament to his recruiting abilities. And now that it's not working out he's too stubborn to admit he was wrong and try something else.

One thing I would like to point out concerning injuries, talent level, etc.: We've all complained, going back to the J. Rivers seasons, that "this team has the lowest basketball IQ".  If his teams consistently play careless, stupid ball it can mean only one of two things - bad recruiting or bad teaching/coaching.  And both are the sole responsibility of one man, and that's the head basketball coach.

I don't take any joy in wishing for a new coach.  IMO, coach Crean has worked very hard and dedicated himself to the team's success.  Sadly, it's clear that his best is not good enough for either the expectations of the fans or the salary he is being paid. I do feel bad for the guy, but he knows what the expectations were/are.

Bonani jones who works for espn, said on twitter that tom crean should be fired.

This thing is gonna be a national thing. I'd be surprised if it's not all over the networks this week.

At least some of the national media is coming around. I'm so tired of seeing national media members who are friends, or at least have a good relationship with Crean coming out and trying to call out the fan base for not blindly supporting the guy. I'm almost at the point I don't care what the media thinks of us as a fan base, we're pissed and there is a reason why

I really wish JBJ would have missed that 3 against PSU and didn't hit those shots to finish off KU along with much more and RoJo didn't blow up in the first half of the UNC game. Seems like Thomas Bryant is the only kid he likes and by his on court behavior at times it makes sense where TB gets the crying from lol. These kids didn't sign up for this and as immature as he thinks they are...name one 18-22 year old that isn't!!! I will wait because there aren't any. You mold kids to your personality and obviously some don't work, but kids like JBJ who may be a bad defender has been around the game his whole life and has a father who is well respected. RoJo comes from a very humble family as well. It isn't their fault they no one to guide them. Hell even Cal who is famous for saying you don't just recruit a kid for basketball you recruit them for life. Crean is a coward to throw this on them. JN never told the media he single handedly helped make the team B1G champs by his practices and all the hype he put out of him. That was Crean. Yes kids need held accountable, but a grown adult needs to be held MORE accountable. I applaud DG for his tweet too. I hope more players specifically JBJ, RoJo and JN become more vocal tomorrow after Creans comments. If he can call them out they should be able to too. Show him just how immature they really are!!

No way of telling whether Green's tweet was about Crean, but he has to know that's what people are going to think when he tweets something like that a few hours after his coach calls his team the most immature he's ever coached. My guess is that it's one of those "no of course it's not about him" *winks* subtweets. I'd put money down on one of him and Crean not being back next year.

Translation:  he had a replacement, it just happened to be a bad one.
