MikeRoberts Posted February 11, 2017 Posted February 11, 2017 If we can't convince Stevens, Donavon, or Bennet then Archie is the guy I want. More than Jay Wright? More than Dana Altman? Even Enfield and holtmann seems like a better optionSent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Quote

They haven't put a product on the floor that people want to watch. Some of that blame goes to Crean, but he's not the sole reason people aren't showing up. Quote

Altman has had 2 defenses capable of winning a title since 2002. Even Crean has had 3. Holtmann has had 1 in the last 6 years and Enfield's best is this year at #79. These guys would all fare the same or worse than Crean just looking at the way they don't value defensive minded teams. Quote
Hoosier Guy Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 Tony Bennett or Archie Miller. Assuming both Brad Stevens and Billy Donovan say no Quote

Jay Wright is my number one above anyone else, but a guy like Altman would be awesome here. If he stays at Oregon for the longterm I think he could be a perennial top ten team and I just don't see Archie ever being that at DaytonSent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Quote

Gregg Marshall is a better choice than Altman. Quote
brandct Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 I like Archie for the job. Honestly from what I have read Stevens is a hard no, but you have to offer him everything you have to try and lure him. Donavon I also think would be a no depending on what OKC does at the deadline and how they fair in the playoffs. I had never even considered Beard until he was mentioned earlier but I think he could be a good choice. I also think with IU's resources Chris Collins could do really well. thebigweave 1 Quote
iceman Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 How are things going in the Crean house Iceman? You are related right. Hope you found a new house out of state. I will continue to be an IU fan for life & would never wish for them to not to win no matter the surroundings ! Just be careful what you wish for [emoji459] Quote

Class of '66 Old Fart Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 If Glass is planning to make a change certainly he'll reach out to a selected few targets typically through backdoor channels. On the other hand, if the sharks a/k/a agents for the coaching fraternity start to smell blood, they'll be beating a path to Glass for coaches who would love a job in Bloomington. thebigweave, Alford Bailey, Happydaze and 1 other 4 Quote

HoosierTrav Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 Just curious...why? I prefer Archie and a few others, but other than the over the top intensity, Martin can really coach a disciplined team.Because he's won even less than Tom Crean... I am baffled that anyone is even suggesting Frank Martin at IU. That would be the nail in our coffin. thebigweave, 8bucks, MikeRoberts and 4 others 7 Quote
HoosierTrav Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 Better get used to names being thrown out there that dont seem logical. I do think Martin is a step above Crean but clearly wouldnt be in the fans top group. There is literally no evidence to suggest that Martin is a step up from Crean. There's a lot that suggest he's a downgrade. Quote
HoosierTrav Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 An IU message board. Shouldn't take it serious. Everyone knows Frank Martin would be a major downgrade. We might as well hire Bruce Webber [emoji23]Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile appWe could re hire Mike Davis and not notice a difference. ALASKA HOOSIER, thebigweave and Trish 3 Quote
Yogi's Picnic Basket Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 I'm saying no to Altman, his defenses typically aren't much better than Crean's. Gregg Marshall is a better choice than Altman.I highly doubt that!! Altman has had a couple really good shot blockers lately. Boucher & Bell have been solid. Regardless if his defense is okay to probably above average for me he has done a lot with not that much talent. He has developed the guys he has to the names they hold. Watching Oregon as much as I have I can tell you his team plays to the whistle and they play with heart. I would take Altman but he isn't my top option but to act like he is an okay coach is crazy. Oregon was never a basketball school and he has made them a name for quite awhile now. Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app Quote
