I'm trying to understand your statement about him having a better resume than Crean up to the point thy were hired by a blue blood program. I didn't say it was blue blood worthy. He did have 5 seasons of improving teams and he didn't have a Dwayne wade to ride. Quote
Trish Posted January 31, 2017 Posted January 31, 2017 Let's talk about this. If we lose tomorrow, that would certanilty speed up the process of him being fired correct? Sure he won't be fire after the game.. But an L tomorrow with a major collapse the rest of the season may just grant us our wish. Thoughts? Quote

I just can't see how Glass can ignore all this negative noise. If he keeps Crean, then Glass needs to go as well Quote
coonhounds Posted January 31, 2017 Posted January 31, 2017 Yes a loss tomorrow starts a potentially devastating slide that should take moral to a all time high imo. Sent from my SM-G920V using BtownBanners mobile app Quote

I think a lot hinges on 1) what the big time donors want and 2) who is a likely replacement. Quote

They canned him quick and we need to do the same to advance to the next level. Ryno6284 1 Quote

schoosier Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 I am finally believing the end is near. Looking back we all will have the definitive moment when we knew he wasn't gonna win big. Most will say it was the Syracuse massacre 5 long years ago; but the first 3 seasons of 6, 8 and 12 wins was fairly obvious. Forget the excuse we were a dumpster fire blah, blah. A better coach wins more then wins big by year 5. The seminal moment for me was beating Illinois and Crean ran out of Assembly Hall jumping up like we had won a NC. He became a cheerleader much like today. I also remember the spirited battles with PJurkin/ Boot of Doom and he has even come around. It's time to fire, resign, walk into the sunset or Big South and get us a real coach. Amen Class of '66 Old Fart, HoosierAloha and ALASKA HOOSIER 3 Quote
IUHAHN81 Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 Just watched Creans preview of Penn State. Press conferences are becoming A LOT shorter and answers are much shorter as well. I believe he is definitely feeling some heat. U can see it on his face. southernindianahoosier and ALASKA HOOSIER 2 Quote

He always gave reason to question his stability, but the outright B1G titles and Sweet Sixteens always gave reason to hold tight. This is his second dip in performance since reaching those "highs" so clearly this is the normal trend with him. JSHoosier Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 I think at one time we all thought, or at least hoped, Crean was the guy to awaken the sleeping giant. Well he shook the giant, got it to startle, then got back handed clear across the room. It's time to patch over the Crean shaped imprint in the wall, and bring in the guy that will flip the darn bed over. I loved the hire at first. I was ecstatic after the first Sweet 16, loved the B1G title but viewed the next Sweet 16 as an underachievement. After the dip in performance and actually looking at his resume, I just expected what we've seen; some highs not high enough and a complete inability to sustain it. 8bucks, ALASKA HOOSIER and CrossboneIU22 3 Quote
WayneFleekHoosier Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 His biggest achievements by far are finding Oladipo and Wade.Extremely impressive. Problem is, at IU we should be getting Zellers and Yogis on the reg. His recruiting was never as good as it needed to be to adequately cover up his flaws.I became recruiting obsessed when I realized he had capabilities of landing big talent and we needed a lot of it to be successful. I was rooting for Crean all along, hoping his recruiting could cover his blemishes. His recruiting has fallen off the cliff. It's crazy. Problem is to cover up his coaching flaws he needs to recruit at a Duke type level and he can't. CrossboneIU22, BGleas, Happydaze and 1 other 4 Quote
