TOM CREAN FIRED

Recommended Posts

If this becomes a constant thing. The little things like Effort and caring about the basketball, I will reconsider my position on Crean.

My question is why now?  If it really is that JBJ went to the bench, then why wasn't Crean benching him if his lack of effort was so infectious why didn't Crean recognize that and deal with the problem.

I only shared what was told to me, although I wasn't there. I am sure she wasnt mistaken though. Were you at this game?

yeah but could of been on the other side of where she sat during the game maybe she was seated in a section that was vocal around her but as far as the whole place I didn't notice booing

I have been to four games. I booed during the Notre Dame game. There was sporadic booing during that game and during introductions but much of that was from other fan bases. At the Hall I haven't heard much booing but my I was there before Maui and last 3 games were in the last couple weeks. Today was the loudest I heard in a long time when I was there. I obviously wasn't there for the Watshot, OSU that same year or UNC. For a game I was at it wasn't on a Duke vs IU level but best since.

I have thought this over the years and feel as though Crean gets too enamored over shooters. This is a gritty group that seems to be taking on the personality of the Freshman. I am excited for the rest of the year but man these kids as upperclassmen is exciting.

i think the year we went 17-15 and had 0 shooters besides yogi on the team has made him prioritize shooters a little more than usual. In that year we had the defense to win more games but lost because teams would make other people shoot besides yogi and doubles Noah in the post

I agree. I think he has the makings of stability IF we can see our freshman continue to develop and eventually become seniors. That has been such a problem during the non VO/CWat/Hulls years. We had a few guys leave early but we had s core group stay and become a strong team. Since then we do not get to see kids stay that long.

I'll take some of that. If he's here in 2018, I'll be beyond shocked. The man has never won anything. That cannot happen at Indiana. Iowa, Michigan State, Maryland, and Purdue are all better than Indiana, so we're at best 5th in the Big Ten if we played a complete schedule in the man's 8th season. Not good enough. He has the excuse of a Blackmon injury, but people are smarter than that. Indiana has two even decent wins this season, and the only good team we played beat us easily by 20. We lost to two mediocre teams, and struggle at both ends of the floor. That can't last 3 more seasons, and if it can, I'll have given up by then. Crean is at best mediocre...he was fine digging Indiana out, but he's plateaued. It doesn't take a genius to see that....or even a competent AD. If the University doesn't care enough about the program to make a very necessary change, I'm not sure why any of us would support it. I'm in.

How did those Boilers do tonight?

I hated to miss the game but was working a trade show. Ran into a good customer from Indiana who is also a grad and went to the Morehead State game. She said there was definate booing when Crean came out into the court, and she could not believe how empty Assembly Hall was. We reminisced about the good ole days when the hall was packed for every game even during Christmas break. Crean has lost most of the fans and short of a final four run must go. Winning big is what he hasnt done.

I was at that game. There was no booing. He didn't get much applause, but no booing. There were some empties in the student section like most cupcake games.

Also, this myth of always selling out over Christmas break is...well, a myth. Up until the mid 90s, we never averaged over 17,000 per game for a season. Not once. There's been some changes to the bleachers over the years, but nothing that would drastically change capacity. I went to games over break when Knight was here announced at around 13,000.[attachment=3186:ImageUploadedByBtownBanners1452479930.559309.jpg]

I was at the Morehead St game and there was definitely booing all around me when CTC was introduced which
by the way, personal feelings aside I think is a classless act.

anyone saying there isn't booing isn't paying attention, isn't being honest or is sitting in the Tom Crean fan club section. The booing exists, have heard it at home, neutral sites and on the road the past 2 years. Some games are more noticeable than others but can't remember a game I haven't heard at least a few vocal people

A few people versus thousands is hard to notice though.  Yesterday, and during the Wisconsin game I didn't hear any.  Maybe I was sitting in the Tom Crean fan club section, or maybe you were just sitting in the Tom Crean hater section?  I don't know, but I didn't hear anything the last two games.  If there is booing it is most definitely in the minority.  Like I said earlier, I heard it at the Notre Dame game.  Didn't hear it at the first game I went I went to this season either.  That said, I don't think there are too many people that would be mad if he gets fired (myself included), but I don't think it happens this year at all.  He lost a few of you before this season, but that isn't going to change his status.  I suspect no matter what, we will see a deflection much like we did after Knight left for Texas Tech coming up.  Attrition is bound to happen until you are looking like a national title contender.  Then, everyone wants a part of you.  I think this is the year that happens until we are a top 10 team again.

I would definitely expect that as it was 3 days after Duke.

Booing was my friend and customers observation during her game back. I would like to get back any time even if Crean was coaching.

Exactly. There was Crean booing clear back in 2012 at the BTT. That was back when I was still on the Crean bandwagon.

Thank you. I should have said no noticeable booing from where I sat. I obviously can't speak for 17,000 people.
