Feathery Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 Curious.... When did he make it public that he wanted to coach college? He would recruit very well but my concern is that he would run an NBA style offense. As we've seen with Crean and we see with each Calipari coached team, this doesn't work in the college game unless you've got NBA talent across the board. That's just too much pressure to have to recruit at that level every year. I'd take a Brad Stevens/Bo Ryan type of coach with Indiana resources over an NBA guy who hasn't coached successfully at a college program. He wanted to coach St Johns but they hired Chris Mullen instead. Quote
Feathery Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 If people want to boo, then do it when they announce the head coach before the game starts. That makes it perfectly clear who is getting the boo. Then cheer the team on the rest of the game. If Crean gets the boo every home game it will make it perfectly clear to the AD/administration that the fans want a change and where the change needs to be made. Walking Boot of Doom Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 because they are the only ones on the court with hands minus Vonleh and Zeller. They crash the boards harder than guards in many other programs. Rebounding is something that I think Crean has coached well. Don't know what happened in Maui though. Quote
BlueDevil Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Seth Greenburg talked about Tom Crean for about 3 minutes during the Duke game saying that Tom Crean has done a great job at Indiana and it is unfair the heat is receiving. "Mob Mentality." Quote

JSHoosier Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Although then again, our opponents in Maui would've said Crean was doing a great job too. He was the MVP for each of them. Quote

"Mob Mentality." Greenberg's protecting his own turf. If Crean gets the ax and waits a year before getting a new gig, Mr. NIT is getting demoted from the main studio to covering small conference games online. Quote
Iufan2324 Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 I'm a little late to the party but here's some coaches that I would love to see at IU Tom thibeaudau Archie Miller Dan fife Steve Alford Brad Stevens Tyron Lue All of these guys would be upgrades on the coaching end. Recruiting I am not so sure. Fulkme15 1 Quote
Naturalhoosier Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Steve Alford....NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Otherwise, I'm ok w/the list. ;) I'd prefer Dane Fife to sit on the Asst Coach bench a little longer, but that's just me. HoosierAloha, ThompsonHoosier, VO5 and 4 others 7 Quote

WayneFleekHoosier Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Fife needs to be a HC at a higher level program first to earn stripes. Jumping from AC to HC at a historical top 10 program makes little sense except alumnus status. He could be our coach after our next coach if he finds HC success. southsidehoosier and MikeRoberts 2 Quote
MikeRoberts Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Bad time to throw this name out as he isn't having a great year but Thad Matta would likely come and would be a huge upgrade. Before you bash, take a look at his accolades, very impressive Rookie33 1 Quote

Dane was a HC for 5 years building IPFW into a division 1 program. His teams at IPFW got better every year but he was definitely learning on the fly. If he leaves in the next year or so he would probably got to a mid major level team but if holds on for another 3 or so years he may be able to jump s little higher. Quote

He did fairly well but so have the 2 coaches succeeding him. He needs a mid major coaching job first as you alluded too. HoosierTrav 1 Quote

Fife needs more seasoning, but I really wanted him as an assistant. Miller is intriguing. I'm not quite sold on him yet, but I liked how his teams played the little bit I've seen of Dayton. Thibodeau is probably staying in the NBA IMO, but yeah he'd be an improvement. Lue doesn't have any head coaching experience at all. Stevens, well that is the dream. Absolute perfect fit here and calling him an improvement over Crean is like calling the Grand Canyon a slight crack. NRT137 1 Quote
