TOM CREAN FIRED

Recommended Posts

What if we turn into a football school rather than a basketball school lol? We can't just replace Crean with another subpar coach. We need someone elite to come in, and who in their right mind would want to do that with the current state of the program? Maybe a former Hoosier, that's all I can think of. Fife? Gosh I don't know.

Fife is so far from elite.

Couldn't agree more! FIRE CREAN, FIRE CREAN...but who would you hire? He's good...got some bad apples who will be out of the program soon enough. Why is no one screaming BENCH YOGI, SIT BLACKMON?

Um we did that quite a bit this week. CT even agreed and benched some of the guy's but not long enough.

They need benched.  If Troy rebounds again with one hand when he can get it with two, he needs benched.  That cost the team a possession and an easy two against Wake.  I guess it does look cooler to rebound with one hand though...

This list of better coaches, in terms of X's and O's is too lengthy... I'd pretty much take anyone but our current guy at this point. Every resource ($$$) should be committed to Stevens. If he says no, then go for Miller. He's not a grand slam, but he's a significant improvement over what we have now.

Agreed, I'm just not sure what elite coaches would want to come here considering the state of the program. Let's be real (and I love Stevens), Brad isn't likely coming here in the near future so realistically I'm not sure who would be interested.

This won't happen. But Indiana has to know with absolute certainty whether or not Brad Stevens would entertain the job if it were available. Every move we make from that point forward depends on his answer.

I'm not changing my avatar but I'm convinced there is no way in hell he would want this job over the one he has now. No chance. He's just getting started in the NBA. Next Popovich.

Like most I was ready to move on after last season. I just hope this doesn't get ugly at home games with fans booing. If that happens then the move has to be in-season.

IF we play inconsistently how can we expect fans to not react that way. IF Glass continues to throw out support for Crean, which he will do until he fired him, then passionate fans have little recourse to express dissatisfaction with what appears to be support for mediocrity.

I am not encouraging booing but I completely understand why It might happen.

Me too. Just saying that if it comes to that then you can't wait until the season is over to make the move.

I agree. Folks will assume the midseason change is done based on a perceived idea that we will win more with him gone mid year. We may not but the pressure on him, the kids and the program will be very high and the potential for something ugly will increase. Heck even when opposing teams HS student section taunts CTs son then the IU fan base takes the hit

I think you'd be pleasantly surprised.  Sure we are suffering on the court, but the state of the program itself is excellent, and we'd be able to attract way more high quality candidates than 2008.

  • No NCAA sanctions
  • Perfect APR score
  • Ample recruiting with amazing 2017 in-state class
  • Great fan support
  • Cook Hall and upgraded Assembly Hall ready for 2016

The only negative is that our current product on the court is subpar, but we'll be very attractive to a coach who sees the peak and not the valley and wants the challenge.
