Feathery Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 I guess i dont understand why people want him back in Assembly Hall. The guy is beyond resentful. Indiana fans need to just move past him. To be honest, when I think of Indiana basketball, I think of where I want it to go, not where its been. Knight like our glory years are well past us. Todays coaches have passed Lnight by as well. Lets find a new coach that will take us to the top and be done talking about this old angry man. theriverpilot 1 Quote

I don't think anyone would completely expect anyone to forget, but it takes a lot to hold a grudge that big that long. I can honestly say in my 35 years I hoped a group of people die. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app If there's anyone wth the personality to hold a grudge for that long it's Bob Knight. It doesn't surprise me at all that he has for all these years. I laughed out loud when I listened to him say that he hopes they're all dead though. Not because it's a funny thing to say but because it's exactly the kind of thing I would expect from him. mdn82 Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 Honestly though. It does not bring a strong reaction out of me either way. He doesn't want to come back. I don't care if he comes back. He is who he is. I don't get why in 2017 it even matters if it hasn't happened by now. Great coach. Not a great person. Moving on still.Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app LockdownD, theriverpilot and Hoosierfan2017 3 Quote
cthomas Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 I don't care how great of a coach he was, wishing people dead is completely unacceptable! BGleas 1 Quote
tyappleg Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 Maybe it's because I'm a millennial Hoosier... but man... screw Bob Knight. Such a bitter, sad old man. I gave up on him a long time ago. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Quote

cthomas Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 I think it is context sensitive. Self defense, of course. In defense of family, no problem. But because one got fired, no. Hoosierfan2017 1 Quote

So you do not think the '76 and '81 players would have gained anything if he would have attended the events that THEY begged him to attend?? Great coach but a petty, bitter, hypocritical old man. He stressed that the jersey only said Indiana, not the players name, but his jersey alway has, and always will, only says KNIGHT. Julie Sturgeon, ebridges24 and BGleas 3 Quote

I think he still isn't over the fact of why he got fired in the first in the place but then you have to wonder if it was the Neil Reed situation that got him fired or if Brand just simply found another way to fire him. Reed, Brand , what could possibly be the one reason he got fired???? (Sarcasm intended). There is not a single reason. There are a ton of reasons. He exhibited behavior that would not be tolerated in 99.99% of workplaces. ebridges24 1 Quote

The Neil Reed video that was exposed in March 2000 got Knight on the 'zero tolerance' policy. Then he had incident at the beginning of the next semester with a student; whose dad happened to be an ardent Knight detractor. That technically let Brand to use the 'zero tolerance' policy enacted to fire Knight. Quote
Hoosiers High Life Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 This is RMK! He is a legend! He made IU a blue blood! He is the reason for our expectations. Ya he is bitter and being kind of childish to hold the grudge but you can't just say screw him without out him we probably wouldn't 5 banners.I wish he would of at least came to celebrate with his old teamsTHIS IS INDIANA!!!! RobPoff Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 And he dampened his legacy by continuing to be a petulant child 17 years after the fact. If he came to Assembly Hall, the administration would profit from it from gouged ticket sales, TV ratings, etc. I can understand him not wanting the university to make any more money off of him since they made X amount from him for 30 years. If I was the president of Ford and made them an unfathomable amount of money and the board fired me, I wouldn't support Ford, say the name or buy anything Ford. I wouldn't visit them or step foot into any of their facilities. Him doing book signings off campus is his way of interacting with fans that he clearly loves. Coach Knight is not one for lip service. If he came back, the university would profit and he would make $0. What's the difference of him making money off of the fans instead of the university? He's not being a child. He's being a smart business man and sticking to his principle of giving the university the finger for an unceremonious exit.
