He's accepted it for years it not new. We got lucky last year that Yogi willed the team to a BTT.

6 of creans 9 years we have been mediocre to horrible. With our outliers being a sweet sixteen

He should of been fired before last season. Glass excepted two back to back mediocre years

But Purdoo fans are pleased with the return on this State investment!

UK fan at work today, didn't even mention the game last night.... just smiled and I already knew... I mentioned that it was a means to an end and he exclaimed joyfully that we should give him an extension and he would figure it out...

100% accurate. In the pre-Zeller years, I still watched the games, knowing we weren't going to win. And I was ok with mistakes, because I believed things would get better. Two years ago, I quit watching after we went 10 minutes without scoring in the second half at Northwestern, and didn't watch the rest of the season. Last week, I didn't watch the Penn State game and had to miss the MSU game, and I was completely fine with that. Obviously I didn't even think of turning on the TV last night.

We're just in a different place now.

I'm with you my friend.

I know some pUKe fans that feel this way.  I also know a pUKe fan that says IU deserves better than Crean.

Purdoo fans running their mouth on FB this morning. I told them to enjoy it. Were about to go get a coach and you guys will still have Painter.

Just tell them Purdue is only good when the Big Ten isn't. They don't like hearing that, but it's true. The last 10 years proves it.

Maybe Glass is willing to accept mediocre basketball and maybe he isn't, I have no idea what runs through his mind.  BUT, if what we saw at Michigan is what we're going to see for most of the remainder of this season, CTC is gone because that performance doesn't remotely come close to anyone's definition of mediocre.  And I would also suggest that a repeat performance tomorrow against NW might be the nail in the CTC coffin because to me it would strongly indicate he's lost the locker room with this team.

I get why folks might think he accepts mediocre basketball but I don't think we can draw that conclusion yet.

I honestly thought Crean had turned a corner last year after JBj got hurt. Seemed he changed his recruiting to some extent, changed to a more comfortable game attire and I thought he also found a way to get the guys to play D. I think in retrospect he just rode the back of a more determined Yogi.

There were good reasons to make a change right before Bryant committed but a change wasn't made. That was really the best time to make a change AND yet be able to say Crean had had plenty of time to turn this around. I highly doubt Glass went through without doubts himself and even though he did not pull the trigger I think the promise of Bryant is a understandable reason for deciding not to make a change then. The right decision? Probably not but that alone does not prove Glass accepts mediocre results. Combine that with the donations for the Assembly Hall renovation and the Cuban technology money and the pause makes some sense.

Now, if we extend Crean without a final four run then I accept the premise.

Agree. Personally I don't think he or admin accepts mediocrity. But they won't accept winning at all costs either so it's a balancing act for sure. The tide is mounting and I don't think CTC can stop it.

The discussion here is much like the ND fball boards. They say the same things. Admin doesn't care. Admin only wants money. Admin accepts mediocre fball. They are a historic fball school and shouldn't have to put up with it etc.

The stories parallel very well.

Admin knows the situation.

Call it a fluke run if you wish (which is hard to do in CFB), but at least they know that even if it is a rarity, Kelly's ceiling is competing for a NC. With IU's resources, so far Crean has yet to finish in the top 8.

I thought he had turned a corner last year as well. He seemed to be making adjustments better than before and improving as a coach. Then he went right back to the same old Crean this year. At this point I don't think he's ever going to change.

I think it was a fluke for sure. They had a lot of close games that year and it was shown in the NC. I love seeing them struggle.

As for CTC, no question his ceiling is not that high.

I'm pretty sure I said it on the board but I was hesitant with thinking Crean had changed because we'd already seen he could have a year or two of good coaching, but had shown absolutely no ability to consistently coach well.

The Michigan game was just a cluster.  The preparation for that game was almost as incompetent as the Syracuse Sweet 16 game.

If we see anything like that again this season he shouldn't even have time to leave the locker room after the final game, he should be fired about the same time as the final buzzer sounds.
