Some of you complain about the Big Ten not being able to compete in the tournament due to antiquated style of play. But as soon as you have a coach that is attempting to run a more modern style of play with a modern roster you begin to complain about the lack of big men. It doesn't make sense. Let Coach worry about who is playing what position. If we see issues next year, we can voice our complaints in the "Fire Coach Devries" thread. :)

Sam Alexis? I hadn’t even heard his name yet. He’s going to be a valuable bench piece. Love how this staff is building a team and keeping it quiet.

I will say, I was most definitely ready to move on from Crean by the end of his tenure, but the way he has handled his post Indiana days has made me very fond of the guy. Just a truly caring guy that shows his guys the ultimate respect and handles Indiana with a bit of admiration and fondness. Pretty awesome stuff.

Josh Harris averaged 13.4 points and 7.1 rebounds in just 22.5 minutes as a freshman. Against power five teams -- four games against South Carolina, Georgia Tech, Georgia, and Nebraska: four games: 22 mpg, 11.5 points, 5 rebounds, 19 of 33 from the field (58%).

I disagree with this. Setting his IU connections aside Goode would represent one of the very few players on the roster that have played and won at the high major level in a role requiring significant minutes. Add in his appreciation for IU and a year here under his belt and I think he’d be a value-add as a 5th year senior.

No. We will need to perform to the expectations that Devries has a plan, and with players that he believes can and will execute that plan we will be a tourney team. I am so done with judging a roster based on star rankings and national media expectations. I want a proper college basketball lifer that knows what the **** he’s doing a puts a system and culture in place.

You can tell he is truly proud to have been the HC of IUBB. Definitely was time to move on, but he had some success here too that he can hang his hat on. Nearly a decade since, hard not to appreciate the guy.

Text from my UF son, who is a bball player who grew up a rabid IU fan (and I suspect would still root for IU over his own school even after they just won the natty— I raised him right). My kid also sat in the first ten rows of the student section for every UF home game this year. This is what he’s got on Sam Alexis: “He’s not bad, he’s strong/decently athletic and can rebound and has some post moves. He’s a true center and not a very good defender and definitely not a rim protector. Hopefully he’s not a starter but he’s definitely decent.” I then asked him for a player comp and he said: “Kind of a shorter DeRon Davis before Davis got hurt.”

This is partly why the Alexis signing is interesting to me. Apparently he's had a higher offreb rate in his career than TJD, Ware or Ballo. One of the best 3's you can shoot is the kickout 3 from an offensive rebound. If Alexis can translate that to IU, it will be a big asset.

Rabby says that since IU is now at 10 on the roster, they're looking for another big or maybe adding another really good player if given the chance then moving to HS players. The staff feels good about the roster now. He also says, again, that he feels good about IU's chance to land Dezmon Briscoe if they want him. Going by that, it looks as though they see Bailey playing as a 5.

Yup, walked up to him at a Juwan Morgan vs OG Anunoby HS game and we talked the entire 1st half until he took off at halftime and he could not have been a nicer dude.
