So happy that Nancy Leonard and Herb Simon are still around to see this. Nancy and Slick straight saved the franchise and Herb convincing Mel Simon to buy the team and keep it local restored stability that had long passed. There is literally no Indiana Pacers without those 2.

Thomas Bryant playing real mins in a conf finals closer is nuts. Carlisle is crazy. Also, when they said it’s been exactly 25 years, I started to feel really old. I remember going to those Finals with my dad.

That was a 6 game series that felt more like 10. Smell ya later, Knicks.

What a game! My wife and I watched it at Upstairs pub with our daughter, who just got into basketball through the Pacers this year and is now hooked! The place was packed and electric. Quite a few members of the football team were there, like Fisher and Sarratt. Plus, it was fun to celebrate the win with some of my former IU students, who happened to be there. What a great night!

  9. T Bryant’s 3’s were fun — Gotta like 2 well-liked former Hoosiers both playing well, against each other in a Conference Finals and in Indiana— OG had a strong game himself.

P’s heading to the Finals — OKC is going to be really tough, but the P’s have played so well as the underdog, should be a fun series!

  12. I think the difference is I don’t have expectations. Every year I have curiosity and anticipation.

  13. Watched about 3/4 of this game and Holt was the best player on the floor. Even if that kid never scores a point he can impact games because he’s such a ridiculous athlete and a really committed defender. But that’ll never happen because he’s so explosive downhill that he can get to the rim on anyone. Big fan.

The first Pacers season I watched was 2004 that team was fun to watch.

  18. I am losing my anticipation slowly. I need to be surprised once to get my hopes back up. Having a real coach helps and him having a bit of success will be huge. I feel this roster will succeed when the three ball is going in and have some surprise wins. Sent from my SM-S926U using Tapatalk

  19. There wasn't enough money. Listen to his words not how he delivered them. He wanted to add more to his roster but was cut off due to a roster overhaul in the basketball program. He wants to win a CFP Championship. He'll jump ship in a heartbeat if this is a continued problem for him. And don't think any school in the country won't want to hire him after the season he had last year. Again, if he was promised this kind of poop wouldn't happen to him he'll leave on his own terms. I would leave my job as well if I was promised one thing and was given the bait and switch. Dolson needs to figure this out, quick.

    IUFB Offseason Updates

This will get Coach Cig to leave for greener pastures. Believe me, it will. Especially if he was promised this kind of poop wouldn't happen to him. As an IUFB first and IUBB second fan, it irks me a little bit that this is something Coach Cig is facing. He's the best thing the IU athletic department has had since RMK and the toxic fanbase/donors is going to screw this up because they would rather hire a new basketball coach every time they lose a game. Dolson needs to get his sh!t together and understand football should be the priority if we want to survive this wild wild west known as NIL.

  21. Certainly could be. I think you’ll be surprised how quick expectations rise. They did with Crean, and a perpetual mediocre coach will be run out, imo. Also, I get what WayneFleek is saying. I respect him as a poster. My point being—which Pagoda made below—is that there’s simply too many unknown variables at this time to get wildly bent out of shape. I get the complaints about rim protection or whatever. But there’s more than one way to design a defense. If you told me prime Bo Ryan was coming back to coach this roster, I’d bet serious money we’d have a top25 defense even without the rim protection. Just a thought exercise to say you don’t need a conventional roster to be good at certain things. Similarly, nobody thought Michigan or Lville would be what they were last year just looking at their roster . I have no idea what CDD has in store, but I’m willing to give him at least a year. But that’s just me; ultimately people can post and feel how they want.

  23. This roster reflects the staff he had for weeks after the portal opened. If he would've walked in the door with Kenny and Rod immediately after Tennessee was eliminated the roster would reflect their connections. Staff builds rosters. You come in the door stumbling and bumbling, you overpay for alot of players without defensive pedigrees. The roster wasn't a mapped out intentional mix of the "right guys." We are using the Woody approach recruiting, albeit with better recruiters and DD+$$$ should close better. I've always liked the idea of replacing seniors with high school kids and transfers with transfers. That would be alot of hs kids in this case. Either way, I think we're looking at year 3 before we can go into the season with hopes of competing for a bt title. DD has only split 1 regular season conference title so it remains to be seen.
