(2019) SG Brandon Newman to Purdue

I think it’s an OK class. 2/3 of their commits we didn’t offer in our own backyard. Personally, I would be rather upset if that was our class as of today. It’s not one that you win championships with

2 CB flips from Duke to Cloudy today from Evan Daniels and Josh Gershon. That's 3 flips to cloudy in the last week...now work your magic Archie! Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

Yep, they just need to add some freakishly large dork to play Center (and spread social diseases) and you have the quintessential Purdue class. Very solid, some skills.....but just not good enough to really matter.

Definitely not Newman over Ramsey for me. Speaking of which, lets get Ramsey to guard Newman. Newman won't be able to breathe. This is the type of class that makes Purdue fans cocky. To them it's a Homerun. It's certainly a solid class, but we are also certainly aiming much higher. Let's compare notes in 2 months. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners

We have a proven, undersized big and a lot of potential. IF Romeo lives up to the hype, Smith has a breakout season, our role players play their role, and, most importantly, a PG steps up to lead the team we can be a dangerous team. That's a lot of ifs. Our floor should be a top 25 team that makes it easily into the tourney. I'm still curious what "recruits" want to see out of midnight madness though. Are there any teams that just have a concert and intros? Maybe we could get Ice Cube and the 3-3 league to perform... Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

IU vs MSU: 9/22 7:30PM BTN

Archie is going to be honorary captain for the game. Gets to run onto the field with CTA. Pretty cool!

And we now return you to our regularly scheduled Jahmius Ramsey programming. I'm following both sides of the pay for play debate but if it's to continue would one of you start up a new thread devoted to that subject? Thank you signed Jahmius Ramsey lol

Cool nobody said that was unacceptable. That’s you building that narrative. Nobody wants to drop the scrimmage which nobody else in America has done. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

These kids knew what they were doing. Acting like these kids are dumb is pretty out of touch with reality.

19 years old are old enough to make their own decisions. If they are mature enough to enlist in the army then they are mature enough to figure out if sham classes are helping them. They went along with it because it was easy and kept them eligible to play basketball. Acting like they have no culpability in this and are clueless is akin to people trying to blame their woes on everyone but themselves. Every college student makes decisions that will likely effect them for the rest of their lives just by picking their major.

    Daily MLB Banter

I forgot to mention this. A few weekends back my brother and I kicked off our annual Baseball Weekend tradition. We flew into Minneapolis and caught the Twins vs Royals game. Drove down to Milwaukee and saw the Brewers vs Giants and then drove down to Chicago and saw the White Sox vs Angels. Target Field in Minneapolis is really nice. It's a smaller stadium and has a homely feel to it. I really enjoyed it. There is a ton of construction downtown but getting to the stadium was simple. Though we didn't utilize it, they have a nice light rail system running from the airport into downtown. For never being there before, I left impressed with the city and the stadium. Miller Field was the first stadium I'd ever been in with a retractable roof. It was odd to watch a game in basically a cube with out a top. One thing is for certain, Brewer's fans tailgate like no other. They showed up in force. We arrived about an hour before the game and there were tailgaters everywhere. It was like a football tailgate at a baseball game. Great fans. They knew when to get loud without the annoying prompt from the screens. We killed time in the afternoon by visiting the Harley Davidson museum. I'm not a HD guy, but I do love motorcycles. It's also worth the stop if you have the time. Chicago. What can I say? It's Chicago. The parking was good. It was easy to get in/out. The food is outrageously expensive. $6 for a 20oz pop. Outlandish. $10 for a beer. Most expensive place of the three. We visited the "Married with Children" fountain and the "Blob" before the game. Nothing terribly exciting. I had been to newer 'Comiskey' before (I can't remember the corp sponsor...Gaurantee something or another) but marked off Minny and Milwaukee from the list. I'm now at 13 active stadiums and 18 overall. Next year we're planning a trip to California. Dodger's, Padres, and Angel's. Already looking forward to that trip.

I don't know- last year's game didn't tell us much! I was quite encouraged after that showing, then....... Anyway, it might give us a glimpse of potential, but expect/hope they'll be much more polished by mid-Feb than late Nov. Edited to add: It would be sooooo sweet to see Dook get their @$$ KICKED at home though.

A 6'4" guard hitting over 40% from 3 is a major weapon. I wanted him for sure, even over Ramsey. He's an effective player, scoring over 18 ppg in EYBL this year. I will say, I think Armaan is a better locker room guy. It seems like coaches all love him, and the players too. Is there anything to this? I don't know, but it sounds good in my head. Juuuust for good measure, this excerpt from the article on Armaan: During a holiday tournament last winter, when Cathedral faced Tindley, Franklin volunteered to guard Purdue signee Eric Hunter. He doubled his talented opponent up, holding Hunter to 15 points while scoring 30 of his own. Linky: https://usatodayhss.com/2018/armaan-franklin-indiana-basketball-recruiting

The kids on academic scholarship have more reason to complain than those on athletic scholarship. Either way, both types know exactly what they are signing up for and do so voluntarily. A scholarship is the best deal most of them get since the reality is that the supply of raw, unproven potential is high and the demand for it is low. Whining because the market doesn't value their time and effort as much as they do is nothing more than entitlement.

    College Bball Thread

Really stings for Clemson fans to lose one to Barnes. How he left Clemson will not soon be forgotten. But in reality basketball is their fifth favorite sport behind football, spring football, football recruiting, and baseball.
