The Score reporting Tucker to Wrigley is a done deal.

Terrible deal for the Astros. We lose a fan favorite and now have zero reliable/consistent hitters in the OF. Great deal for the Cubs. I will continue to support Tucker. Treat him well Cubs fans!!!

So the Cubs got Tucker (1 yr left) to replace Bellinger (1 yr left) and gave up Paredes & Wesneski? Even if you think Tucker is better than Bellinger, he's not that much better for a one year rental.....what am I missing?

Cubs also gave up Cam Smith -- their first-round pick from last season. I thought he had potential. He might end up being the Astros' top prize in this deal.

Most "experts" say this is a win for the Cubs. Not sure about that.

They almost HAVE to make the playoffs next season. Otherwise, it's giving up two serviceable major leaguers and a good prospect for a one-year rental. I suppose they'll try to lock Tucker down, but why wouldn't he want to test free agency?

The Cubbies need to shake things up. What they have been running out there the last 2 years hasn't gotten the job done.

I don't disagree with the idea, just the execution. Maybe Tucker hits 48hrs and is MVP, but appears they gave up some solid pieces for a marginal improvement. They didn't improve Catcher much and still need 3B and pen depth. Hopefully they can rape the Yankees in a Bellinger trade....but I have my doubts.

It is the Cubs.  Doubts are the norm.  lol

Are the Cubs better with Tucker, and (checks name) Cody Poteet, then they were a week ago with Bellinger, Paredes, Wisneski and their #1 draft pick? I would say "no." Off to start a "Fire Jed Hoyer" thread....

Salary dump ...

Image

Cody Bellinger has played 8 seasons.  His OPS has been:

in the 500s once.

in the 600s once

in the 700s twice

in the 800s twice

in the 900s once

in the 1000s once

He is the most confusing hitter in baseball.  In 2019 he was MVP and the best hitter in the national league.  In 2021 he hit .165/.240/.302.

Didn’t there used to be a salary cap in baseball? The sport really needs to do something about the spending sprees from each of the coasts. The lack of competitive parity is growing by the day.

Blame the shitty owners, not the sport
