Circling the January 11th game at Maryland. Might be my only chance to see IU in person this year. Should be highly competitive, but a chance to get a win on the road.

Good.  Let them under-sell us.    We have the best back-to-the-basket, most versatile big man in the conference if not the country; we have the most highly touted freshman in the Big Ten; we have athletic guards; we can guard, and we can rebound.   20-11 is a joke.  

The guy has us going 12-2 in the first 14 games; with one of those losses being to Penn State.  Sorry...not this year.   So basically...this clown has Indiana starting out that hot, which will make us a top 10 team in the country, then peeing down our leg in a conference where we finished 6th a year ago without two forwards (Davis and Hartman) at full strength or even on the floor at all.

Either this guy really values Freddie McSwain and doesn't think Phinisee and Langford can replace Johnson and Newkirk, or he's a complete moron.   Race Thompson isn't even on his list of contributors.  Again...joke.   And yeah....I'll say it again.  Phinisee is WAY better than this guy gives him credit for.

This guy also totals our avg. PPG (without Thompson, Moore, Anderson, or Forrester contributing anything) at 78.6.  Has he seen Archie's teams guard?   Does he think we're going to score 110 against some bad teams and 53 against others?    We were far better defensively a year ago, and we'll be even better this season because Newkirk couldn't guard Brass Cannon in a phone booth.

Not only are we bringing back a ton of experience and size; we got deeper and better at all 5 spots.   He has us as a dog against Penn State, Northwestern, Maryland, and Michigan; all of whom lost a hell of a lot more than we did OR are simply not as good.  I feel the same way about Iowa, Illinois, and Purdue.   Indiana has 31 regular season games scheduled.   I truly believe 26-5 is not only doable but should be an expectation.  We don't play at Wisconsin or Michigan this year...  20-11?   Let me guess....this guy is an "expert?"

It’s a system that only looks at raw numbers. Never mind roster balance and roles being filled. Biggest needs were PG, perimeter scorer and 3 point specialist.

We addressed all 3. Two with home runs. That’s worth a lot more than 4 wins

I like it. Personally wouldn't say IU "should" win the conference, but I definitely think they could and should be in the hunt. 

I can see why people doubt, as Archie said 8 players that haven't played for IU before. So lots of new faces, Green has been inconsistent, Davis health is uncertain and Fitzner wasn't even a stand-out in the WCC. Still, IU should be better and deeper at every position. Two all B1G caliber players, more size and athleticism. If a few things come together it could be a really good team that improves throughout the season. Also I don't think the B1G is back to its usual level yet. Many solid teams but none that are elite and several that might outright blow.

I believe the 20-11 record is built from % chance of winning not the absolute Win/Loss, e.g. if we are projected to win 3 games by a 55% margin his calculation may show our record as 2-1 vs 3-0.  Math is weird.

My only concern this year is at the PG. We have seen IU teams with good pieces that failed due to poor PG play.

IU’s biggest problem last year was shooting. What does IU add more than anything with this recruiting class? Shooting. I can name four games last year off the top of my head that IU could’ve won with some form of competent shooting

We could have won 2-3 more games on free throws alone. Gotta get better at the freebies.

Well I just bought tix to the UC Davis game for my dad and I, looking at the Jacksonville game for my son, and either the Illini or Nebrasketball with my wife.

A pretty fair and balanced look at the league. Still not buying Nebraska. Had a cakewalk schedule and lost in the first round of the NIT. With no major improvements made. 

I might add yet another power ranking that has us playing the bottom 4 teams twice this year.

Whaddya think folks?

I've got a 5:15 pm flight out of town from the Indy airport on February 10. The OSU game starts at 1:00 - should be done at about 3:00 - 3:15. No luggage to check, but gotta return the rental car in-terminal. 

Assuming good driving weather do ya think I can go to the game? Leave Assembly Hall by 3:00 and I'm pretty safe?
