It does happen; not often, but it does happen.

The First Responder Bowl was canceled after 9 minutes and 52 seconds of play and a weather delay of about an hour and 20 minutes on Wednesday. The bowl announced on its Twitter account that it would be ruled a no-contest:

There was 5:08 left on the clock in the first quarter when the teams went to a delay at about 2 p.m. ET. Boston College had a 7-0 lead and had just punted the ball away to Boise State, which was going to take over at its own 14-yard line.

A lightning strike within eight miles of the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, the game site, caused the bowl to go into a 30-minute delay. That delay extended with each successive lightning strike, and the teams and bowl reps eventually decided just not to play.

So, Boise State finishes the year 10-3, and Boston College finishes 7-5, matching its win total in four of its other five seasons under head coach Steve Addazio.

Bowl cancelations almost never happen. This is the first in a long time.

We and others will look into when the last one was.

The NCAA lists the 2000 BCA Classic, a season kickoff game it classifies as a bowl, as being canceled due to weather. It notes that the 1941 Hawaii Rainbows had a postseason game canceled due to the attack on Pearl Harbor. The 2013 C.H.A.M.P.S. Heart of Texas Bowl was canceled due to weather, but that’s not an FBS bowl.

As per their custom, the whiny little Toiletmaker fans scream "IU sucks" as they kick off to Auburn. Three players later, the Tigers score on a 66-yard TD pass. On its next possession, Auburn marches right down the field to another TD. Love it!

Who sucks now, Toiletmaker fans??? Maybe if you were half as obsessive about your opponent as you are with us, you wouldn't be getting embarrassed. (Little brothers can be so annoying).

Another Auburn TD. I hope they make this ugly.

Touchdown Auburn.

“Yikes”

-The color commentator

Edit: Nvm he was down at the 1. Give it a minute.

Edit 2: Touchdown. 21-0 again with 7:00 left IN THE FIRST QUARTER.

Down 28-7, don't even look like they belong on the same field. Purdue makes one good defensive play and celebrates, lol. Very next play they give up a touchdown. Lots to celebrate for Purdue so far

Love that Purdue is getting housed but it’s sadly a reminder of how far IUFB has to go.

Auburn is probably better than their record suggests. 7-5 is a bad season for them, whereas 6-6 at Purdue earns you a raise. Not to mention the SEC West is probably a tad bit better than the Big Ten West.

I think the officials are feeling sorry for PU now. The Toiletmaker DB was basically hugging the Auburn receiver from the 5-yard-line to the back of the end zone -- but there was no holding call.

Yep. The sad thing is that had we somehow beaten PU, this probably would be us getting pounded all over the field in Nashville.
