If Texas and SMU win then. Those two and Boise State/Oregon round out top 4.

Then you have Notre Dame, Tenn, Penn State and Ohio state. Unless we leapfrog Tenn today no real chance of hosting

In that scenario I'd prefer trips to South Bend or Happy Valley.  Penn State hasn't impressed me much this year and an in-state matchup against Notre Dame would be fun.

If we play at ND, it's possible their stadium is 50% red or more.

They probably have the least intimidating home field advantage of any "elite" CFB program.

And they're very overrated. That's the game I hope IU gets.

They have our kryptonite in a strong DL though. It's the only thing that gives me pause about wishing for them. Unfortunately, the other options in PSU UGA TENN OSU all have insanely good DLs too. From a ball standpoint, I think I want PSU. From a "going to the game" standpoint, it's ND and no one else is even close.

If Penn State upsets Oregon this weekend then that would move them up to 1 or 2 and Oregon most likely down to 5 correct?  I can't imagine a 1 loss PSU with a win over Oregon would be ranked behind anyone besides Texas if the Longhorns knock off Georgia.

I love hating Notre Dame because of their arrogant and stuck up fans (many of whom didn’t even go to school there), but I fear that they’re actually legit this year. Would love a first round game there though.

Probably yeah PSU at 2 and Oregon and 5. With OSU 6 or 7.

Them or Penn State would be fine with me. Much more familiar with ND's team...

Obviously a ton of talent. But we match up particularly well with them IMO.

They've had a few injuries - a ton on their DL and OL. Still, a ton of talent and size though.

Their secondary is great, but have had CB injuries and a key transfer, so they've got a lot of young guys stepping up all over.

Most importantly, while Riley Leonard can run, he would be BBQ chicken for our secondary and their WRs are hardly a threat.

They lost to Northern Illinois at home. That doesn't seem legit to me.

Other games of note: beat UL by only 7 at home and more recently only beat a very mediocre USC by 14.

The only impressive win they have is the one at A&M to start the season. They've blown out some bad teams.

I'm just unconvinced they're for real. Just like most years, they're fool's gold and will get embarrassed in the CFP if they win their home game. Which is a big if.

The committee will never admit it but I wonder if once they have their 12 teams and know the byes/home teams/road teams if they will switch up the rankings a little for matchup purposes.  I could see them trying to avoid conference foes playing each other first round or do the opposite and match them up on purpose.  Could also envision them trying to set up an in-state IU/ND matchup.

Have to start some of that tonight since a lot of teams aren’t playing
