I guess they’re really hoping they can sell more premium seats and tickets at SoFi. They’ll have to to make up that buyout. It's also about 20 minutes closer to campus, so they're probably hoping they actually get some students to show up too, lol Quote

For nostalgic reasons, watching IUFB play in the Rose Bowl last year was pretty freakin awesome. But watching the Colts play in SoFi this year was an overall better experience for me personally. I think this is probably a better move for UCLA due to location. Time will tell though. DChoosier and thebigweave 2 Quote

They have been complaining about how far the Rose Bowl is from campus for years, and for them to pay out that amount of money to get out of the lease is pretty crazy from a department that is hurting for money. They must really think they can get more money playing at So-Fi to make this move. Getting their team on track would be beneficial to them. Quote

It was great as was downtown Pasadena, filled with celebrating IU fans, that night. Great time! That being said, being a hour away from campus, when there is traffic, is not ideal (to say the least). That’d be a fantastic hire for Penn State, and a nut punch to the Purdump fanbase, some of whom have been convinced that Brohm only left them because UL is his alma mater. lol Rico, DChoosier, skhoosier2 and 2 others 4 1 Quote

They might get more traffic to SoFi due to location and experience. Regarding the venue experience, taking a family to check out a UCLA game over a Rams or Chargers game might be a little cheaper. Also the coastal (socioeconomically deeper pockets) alumni base will be more inclined to catch a game as well. Who knows, though. jermhoosierfan 1 Quote

Class of '66 Old Fart Posted November 11, 2025 Posted November 11, 2025 And the plot thickens in Baton Rouge. Dan Wetzel - In a legal filing obtained by ESPN, Brian Kelly’s lawyers state that LSU is saying it never “formally terminated” Kelly and are now seeking to fire him “for cause” which could impact his near $54 million buyout. Kelly is seeking a declaratory judgement that LSU did fire him and he is entitled to “full liquidated damages.” LSU declined comment. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/46924174/brian-kelly-lawsuit-says-lsu-claims-not-formally-terminated-coach-now-seeking-fire-cause-avoid-buyout Demo, Pagoda, mamasa and 1 other 3 1 Quote

Ya know LSU and Brian Kelly really deserve each other lol. Also, another not good look for coaches considering that job. They won't have much clarity on who they're working for given the interim AD, etc. and now there is risk of not getting paid a the buyout. str8baller, Hardwood83 and go iu bb 3 Quote

That place is such a clown show, and someone would have to think long and hard about taking that job while seeing all of this. Quote
Pagoda Posted November 11, 2025 Posted November 11, 2025 We all know this, but LSU is fighting a losing battle and making things worse. 8bucks Posted November 11, 2025 Posted November 11, 2025 Seems like JMU may lose another coach this offseason. I wonder if they will freak out as bad this time around or will realize maybe they are unfortunately a stepping stone Quote
