coonhounds Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 Just have a feeling he will be returning. Not just because he showed up the other night. His dismissal was different than the others How was his dismissal different and he would have to sit out next season right? Quote
Bobman1 Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 Where did he show up at? He showed up in Des Moines to watch us take on pUke, and him and Crean had a moment together. Quote
HoosierRob Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 Troy may still not get drafted. If he does it will be late 2nd round. But if he wants the money he can play d league or overseas. Returning would probably help him but he came very close to leaving last year Quote
8bucks Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 We lose some key prices that will make winning the BT difficult but we have enough talent back to repeat in the sweet sixteen and possibly get hot late and make a run. We need to build from what we did this year to have a nice 4-5 year run. We have enough key pieces on the roster now an if we add well and don't lose any key pieces we should be looking good for a few years. ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote
WayneFleekHoosier Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 I can see Troy #25 through nondrafted. His shooting inconsistency would drive me nuts as an NBA executive. His speed, occasional ball handling is tantalizing. He would be worth a second round flyer to me as a NBA exec. Can't teach his gifts. Defense will be an area he needs to improve significantly. He also needs to finish at a better rate on layups. Too many wild efforts. Hoosiers219 1 Quote

Troy might have marginally improved his draft stock, but 30 spots, for a 21, 3 assists, 3 turnover, 2 rebound performance? I'm saying the eye test on three tournament games. IUsince1980 Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 Troy is not the key ingredient to iur success next year. We need TB back. Troy can go and we will be just fine, even better i think because of the depth and size next years team would have. DawgBawls, Feathery, rebelhoosier848891 and 3 others 6 Quote

rebelhoosier848891 Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 For me----TB is the key. We need him back to make deep runs in the BigTen and NCAA next year. Crimson and Cream, ALASKA HOOSIER, Feathery and 2 others 5 Quote

Bryan Medema Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 Anyone think this ends up being a defensive masterpiece of a team? SideNote: What do we know about Newkirk's defense? ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote

It'll be interesting to see if Crean adjusts. We should be able to hurt teams down low, but Crean has never had teams that are consistently good at getting it down low (Zeller had to create his own opportunities like 80% of the time). Next year will be a great barometer of whether Crean is capable of evolving as a coach (honestly, this year is still up in the air for me. He made adjustments when JBJ went down, but would he have ever made the necessary adjustments otherwise?). Quote

That's the difference for next year. Agreed. This is probably an overly optimistic statement, but we have a chance at a title next year if 1) Both JBJ and Troy take defending seriously 2) Troy plays under control. If Troy does not come back, then we will be a solid team, compete for a BIG title, and get bounced by, or in, the sweet sixteen. If he comes back and finally evolves to what the fanbase has been hoping for the last three years (aka, Oladipo light), then we have a shot at a championship. I maybe crazy though. EDIT: I should add, we have a shot if EVERYONE comes back (TB specifically) FloridaHoosierGirl and ALASKA HOOSIER 2 Quote

IUsince1980 Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 Exactly. Troy can choose to go but either won't be picked or if he is, will land in the D league. Could also play oversees. His other option is to come back and try to get better and win a championship. Like I mentioned earlier, i won't be sad either way as I don't view him as the center piece of our team that could be dominant next year. Quote
Parakeet Jones Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 My biggest worry is that we go back to a 3 guard lineup with JBJ, Rojo, and Newkirk. We were better when we got away from that. I like a lineup of Rojo, JBJ, TB, The OG, and Colin while running D2, Newkirk, Morgan, and any other ready freshman off the bench. Personally, I would start Newkirk over JBJ if he hasn't figured out how to play defense by November. I am assuming Troy is gone. Sent from my LG-D850 using BtownBanners mobile app Quote

HoosierAloha Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 They were exaggerating, but he probably improved it as all 21 came in the second half against a very good team Sent from my SM-G920P using BtownBanners mobile app He improved his draft stock by getting buckets in garbage time? I'm not so sure about that. Getting 20 points in the second half again UNC is impressive but getting 20 points against UNC while being down about 15ish the whole second half really isn't that impressive. KingPG21 1 Quote
