MartintheMopMan Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 My understanding is that the combine will stay as it always has. If say, Troy decides to test the waters and several NBA teams express interest, he'll likely be invited to the combine, but if the general NBA thought is that he needs to return to school, then he'll get feedback, but won't be able to be at the combine. The combine isn't for players to see where they stack up, it's for NBA guys to see where players stack up, among those they are interested in. They aren't likely going to invite someone that they think is the 95th best stateside option. And if the feedback is he is currently a later pick and could benefit from a return to school but is also invited to the combine? Then doesn't do well there or does well but is still projected as later than he is willing to leave school for? For some guys that will make sense. If OG were told he could go at 40 this year and was invited to the combine, and at the end it looked like he'd still go around 40, he should return to Indiana. And now that spot was used for someone who is not an eligible draftee. Quote

Tom White Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 Also, dont forget, even through our wins in the reg season, Bryant usually wasn't putting up big numbers. We have never really counted on him for more than 8-10 points, 5 or so rebs. Ahhh! It is all becoming clear now. His reduced role during the season was just a clever ploy by the coaching staff to ensure that TB would have no choice other than to return for at least one more year! Seriously though, I think a lot of these guys would do well to pay attention to Yogi's progress during his Senior year, and try to follow that same blueprint. Class of '66 Old Fart Posted March 27, 2016 Posted March 27, 2016 One time IU target Stephen Zimmerman (UNLV) to enter draft per Yahoo Sports. Seven-foot UNLV freshman Stephen Zimmerman plans to enter the 2016 NBA draft, league sources told The Vertical. Zimmerman, 19, plans to sign with an agent and eliminate the opportunity to withdraw and return to college basketball before the NCAA's May 25 deadline, sources said. A formal announcement is expected early this week. Jonathan Givony, the Vertical’s draft insider, has Zimmerman at No. 26 in his most recent mock draft. NBA executives told The Vertical that Zimmerman, mobile, skilled and a good shot-blocker, has the potential to move into the top half of the draft with some strong performances in pre-draft workouts. Zimmerman averaged 10.5 points and 8.7 rebounds for the Runnin’ Rebels, who failed to reach the postseason. Quote

It wouldn't hurt to attend the combine and a team workout though. I see OG being a three and degree guy though. IUsafety and X-Hoosier 2 Quote
