incrediboy Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 I can no longer access Btown Banners on Chrome or Firefox. Chrome gives me "Deceptive site ahead" warning stating, "Attackers on www.btownbanners.com may trick you into doing something dangerous like installing software or revealing your personal information (for example, passwords, phone numbers or credit cards)." I had to dust off Internet Explorer (which I hate) to access the site. Anyone else have this issue? Anyone have a solution other than telling my anti-virus software to take a leap? Alford Bailey Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 YES! Can you guys do something about this? These redirects have been going on for a while. Napleshoosier 1 Quote
MartintheMopMan Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 All we can offer so far is the fix is in progress. It's super inconvenient for us too and during our highest traffic month so no one is happy about it. Quote
hoosierpap Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 If you click details, then "visit this unsafe site" it will take you here. Not sure exactly what's going on but it's being looked into. Class of '66 Old Fart, incrediboy, Napleshoosier and 3 others 6 Quote

IU Hoosier41 Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 It's a HUUUGE thorn in my side trust me. We are working to get it corrected. Has to do with a site redirect, nothing within BtownBanners. Quote
Popular Post Dalton26 Posted March 14, 2016 Popular Post Posted March 14, 2016 Sorry guys I just wanted to buy a new boat and figured you all could help with that. ALASKA HOOSIER, GloryDays, Class of '66 Old Fart and 6 others 9 Quote
Uspshoosier Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 There is a work around for iPhone safari users until they get it fixed. Settings- safari- turn off fraudulent website warning. If you want to turn it back on when visiting other sites you can just turn it back on Quote
biteoftheapple Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 I use the app. And have nit ecperienced this situation, ever. mdn82, IUsafety and IU Hoosier41 3 Quote

theriverpilot Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 I've found that if you click Details then "visit this unsafe site" at the bottom a few times, it'll eventually let you in. I'm using Chrome version 48 IU Hoosier41 and Napleshoosier 2 Quote
IU Hoosier41 Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 He lengthy chats today with techie folks. Looks to be a massive undertaking to get this malicious redirect code found. I'm looking for people to do it now. incrediboy, mamasa and TrueHoosier62 3 Quote
VO5 Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 It says this is a potential phishing site for me. If you're using mobile/iPhone, I found that going into settings/safari/turning off Fradulent Website Warning works. I've never had another site do this so I find it to be a useless feature Quote
Crimson and Cream Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 Yeah I had to go back to IE lol, good to hear it wasn't just me though Napleshoosier 1 Quote

Hurryin' Hoosiers Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 They're trying to steal your data.. The only way to protect yourself is to cover the back and sides of your device in tin foil and be in a wire metal cage to block the deceptive signals JaybobHoosier, ALASKA HOOSIER and mamasa 3 Quote

Popular Post IU Hoosier41 Posted March 15, 2016 Popular Post Posted March 15, 2016 We have isolated the malicious redirect code!!! However, they still put in upwards of 10 back doors to enter the system and put the code back in. Therefore we are going to do an entire site reset this evening. It will go back to plain Jane tonight. I'm going to start at10pm and could take upwards of 8 hours. I apologize for the delay and missing some of the games tonight, but there is no other option. Now that google has blacklisted the site, we will die from lack of traffic and advertising funds to keep the site up. We've already experienced a large decrease in advertising over the last couple months. I know many of you hate advertising, and I'm with you, but after running this site I have learned it is a necessary evil for sites to stay alive. Remember that moving forward on sites you visit and turn ad blocker off for those sites to help support. The other option is a donation subscription. We will get this site to where I promised 7 months ago. My apologies to Hutch as I have not delivered what was promised on the content side of the site. Stick with us guys, some big things in the works this summer across the IU landscape of sites. I expect BtownBanners to continue our growth and maintain our status as best forum on the web.
