Here's the thing for Romeo. He wants to play for a winner. He wants to be a big part of the team.

The way we look this year, it's going to be hard to convince The Langfords that we will be good next year. We have the look of a .500 squad or worse to me.

Our recruiting class is solid but not to the point we can have guaranteed success like Duke, UNC, UK etc.

The fact Romeo is waiting until Spring is not great for us unless Archie can perform a miracle with our roster.

No I'm felling pretty pessimistic on getting Romeo now. I'd say we are not the leader anymore.

How exactly did Garland handle this well?

If he did indeed string along the IU and the fanbase when we weren't even really in serious consideration just so that his decision would be "exciting" then that is a ridiculously crappy thing to do.

He's been using IU as a ploy to get Romeo to Vandy as I've been saying all along.  We were never under consideration and hopefully Archie learns from this.  Reminds me of the Kyrie Irving recruitment in that we got played like a fiddle yet again.

You wanna talk about a prophet spitting facts? This is it right here. If IU was truly strung along, then Darius most certainly did not handle this recruitment very well

He did not string anyone along. He made a college decision that many kids make each year. Even if think you want to go to a school you will compare it against others to determine whether it is the right decision. That's why he handled this well. Just because we didn't land the kid doesn't mean we should turn into a bunch of assholes.

We have fallen pretty dang far if we lose recruits to Vanderbilt. Thank you Tom Crean for running our program into the ground and thank you Fred Glass for letting it happen.

I told you being close to family sometimes trumps going to a basketball school. It's not that hard to figure out. Life goes on.

Didn't realize namecalling was allowed on the forum and I think your response falls more in line to your namecalling than anything I said.

If Garland strung IU along just to make it so people would care about his announcement, then yes it is a crappy thing to do.

The Garlands didnt tell anyone to make it sound close. If anything the opposite. They said they had one school in mind for weeks. Most just assumed it was us on here. The national guys tried warning us too. I was wrong and it happens, but the Garlands didnt do a thing wrong. I take it as too much optimism as IU fans/writers and am hoping that is what happened not that Rabs or anyone for that matter tried to spin the recruitment. Archie has gave a lot of us faith we havent had in awhile in these kind of recruitments. Time to move on now though.

Evan Daniels Retweeted Evan Daniels

At the request of Darius Garland & his father, we'll run Darius' commitment story once he commits. Winston Garland: "He hasn't talked to any of the coaches yet."

Maybe Archie has the same silver tongue that Calipari has (i.e. Terrence Jones commitment)

So it won't be a quick rebuild. That's alright. 2018 is an amazing foundation class. Another scholarship or two available in 2019. The future is bright.
Nope it's going to take 3 years.
