If Meyer is known as one to change his picks late in the game and last minute, then I sure hope he isn’t messing with us by keeping his IU pick now but then plans on changing it Monday..

Even if Meyer changes his pick at this point, by itself it wouldn't mean anything. Jerry's already on record saying he doesn't have a firm hold on the situation. He was hearing Indiana, now he's not, but he's neither is he hearing Vanderbilt. And as close to the vest as the family has been, no else is hearing anything either. Jerry's gut says Vanderbilt. Unless he says something different to explain his switch, I'll assume he's pulling a Hoosier Guy, and his sources are himself.

Meyers gut will never say IU. Archie could have a son and Meyers gut would Sauvignon bulter.

The Crystal Ball encourages pickers to make the right selection as far out from the announcement date as possible. I believe they also lock it down 24 hours or so before the pick? That may have been an old feature since removed with the scoring structure. In short, I'd expect Meyer to hold to his pick, but I also believe all of the Crystal Ball picks are relying on the analysts own reasoning more so than real tangible sourced information with this recruitment.

bad examples?  I'm not sure how any example is 'bad' but I will agree with you that it is MORE likely top recruits still go to blue bloods, but less likely than it used to be..that's all I was trying to convey.

Michael Porter's dad was hired at Missouri and Simmons godfather/family friend was on the staff. Both were added to get those players. Just a different situation entirely than if Vandy were to get RL. That's all I was saying.

Why? Because they weren't handed the cash? The "connections" are either a) receiving the payments or b) received the job because of the connection (Mizzou and Porter)

Family ties for both. They were strongly considered the favorites the second the family members were on staff. Just a different situation entirely than RL and Vandy.
