(2018) PG Darius Garland to Vandy

Recommended Posts

The "info" he posted from vandy scout is incoherent nonsense with regular glasses on. It contradicts itself at every turn. It's clear nothing has changed. Rabjohns is saying he regrets posting it. Of course Drew was going to visit again. Doesn't change anything.

Rabjohns is all over the place. He was on cream as well. Glad I don't pay ten bucks for that.

I'm not trying to not be excited I'm just tempering my expectation he is ours. I think we have a great shot I just don't think it's a done deal by any means

For what it's worth I don't take your comments as being "pessimistic" or "downer". I take them as being cautiously optimistic and keeping expectations in line with reality. Kids are kids and they live in the moment more often than not. It's even possible he goes to UCLA and has his socks knocked off by them and they all of us a sudden become the leader just like we did over the weekend by surpassing Vandy. Moral of the story is we don't know what these kids will decide to do because I'm not sure they even know what they're going to do. I am hopeful and confident but I'm not going as far as some and believing it's a done deal.

Exactly. My kid changes his my daily on what he wants. I'm just not going to get head over heels on this until it all pans out. He could be blown away be the visit. Who knows. I think we are in it until the end and I really hope we get him. I just don't think it's a sure thing based on internet rumors. I mean people thought James Blackman was gone to Kentucky until the announcement to iu.

Anyone following that recruitment knew Blackmon was going to IU after Booker announced for Kentucky

This I agree. Rabjohns isn’t really that good IMO

I will say this, Rabs more than anyone was probably happier than the next guy about Crean leaving even though he said he was still our guy until like an hour before it came out. Goodman had it before him if that tells you guys how people were feeling at the time. The coaching change gave him a fresh start as it did with others. Rabs is a good guy and does have a lot of sources no doubt, but he was/is afraid of giving his OWN opinion which has always kinda turned me off on him.

I think we have a very good chance here, but then again as the resident pessimist part of me is always hesitant. It feels good to finally have a legit chance after years of knowing we probably werent getting any top guys.

Disagree completely. Rabby gives really good info while also protecting his sources. To each their own though.

My only issue with Rabby is he puts out vague rumors so that he can come back and say "I didnt say that" if people question him. I actually like Rabby but when it comes to info or "nuggests" I dont trust what he says because I feel like he's always leaving himself an out in case he's wrong.

Exactly. It is very cryptic. Nothing definitive.

Cryptic is a much better word to use. Guys like that are just personal preference, some will love him while others wont. He seems like he's a good guy and does love IU so thats good enough for me.

These are the locker rooms at Pauley Pavilion. Much nicer than IU's.

I hope IU will improve their b-ball locker rooms. There is a reason Fred Glass has made improvements to IU’s athletic facilities. All of these improvements can have a positive impact on most, if not all, IU recruits.

I can see that. He is vague, but he does give pretty good hints if you’re even decent with deductive reasoning. You would almost have to be vague in his position. Can’t just come out and say “Garland and Langford are going to Indiana.”

That's very true. Its definitely not an easy job to have.

If he can find $50 + million for Memorial Stadium upgrades, including locker room renovations, then he can find the money to upgrade Assembly Hall's locker rooms.

I think a lot of the renovations to Memorial Stadium (aside from the extra seats) benefit all student athletes as opposed to just the football team. The new facilities they added are open to all student athletes. I got married at memorial stadium last May and they gave us tours of the facilities. You would see football players, volleyball players, etc. roaming the facilities. I say this because I think the majority of the renovations were for student athletes as a whole and not a single particular sport. I am sure the donors and BoT want to take care of all the student athletes collectively before focusing on a singular sport. This is all conjecture but that is the sense that I got from the upgrades.

Very true. The north and south endzone complexes are for all athletes. But if Glass can find money to renovate the football locker room and build a players' lounge, he should be able to find the resources to renovate the much smaller Assembly Hall locker rooms.

I agree. The reality is that all the athletic facilities on campus were neglected for decades and now the administration is trying to play catch up. Hopefully that Ken Nunn money keeps pouring in
