Popular Post Walking Boot of Doom Posted October 31, 2017 Popular Post Posted October 31, 2017 IU just isn't sexy in New Albany. I go to games down there, and you'll see kids in UK, UofL, UNC, or Duke gear. Very few kids around here are IU fans. We haven't been relevant. IU is not a dream school for these kids, much less Romeo. Believe me, if he comes here it's because Miller is that good and he just couldn't find a better option. There’s no such thing as a top 10 kid who has to settle, because he doesn’t have better options. Walking Boot of Doom Posted October 31, 2017 Posted October 31, 2017 A lot of the Big names are making mistakes with this kid. And we are the beneficiary.UL screwed itself, but other than that, how is this different than any other recruitment? If he picks IU, it wasn’t because he was out of other options. First, you say IU isn’t getting him. Then, you say IU is getting him. Now, you say IU isn’t a sexy option. You’re changing your mind more than a woman on her worst day. Jeff_Boy_Ardee Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 My stance is that he will come here. I was making a point because I'm close to the situation. He didn't grow up on IU. His buddies are most likely steering him away from IU. I know the kids at New Albany. Their is a contingent of IU fans down here but the majority of them are 40+. The kids have jumped on UofL and UK. Some like UNC. The kids that like IU usually come from very pro-IU families. And that can start to change with one of their own going to IU and being part of a new era at IUSent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote

Indiana fans are different here. We are mostly a Louisville market and out local news is Louisville based. There are a disgusting number of U of L and Cat fans. A lot of IU fans are more fair weather and the most tend to be the older ones who can remember when IU is revelant. This makes a big difference to younger kids and when most of local news coverage is UK and UL it's not shocking a lot of kids root for them. Heck go to a local store here you will find far more UK and UL stuff. I don't know if it's because IU markets itself poorly or store don't want it but that's the reality. I believe we get Romeo but it's only because of Archie and what he's selling. Sent from my SM-G935T using BtownBanners mobile app at33iu and GloryDays 2 Quote

When Knight's team's were at the top of the heap they had no choice but to talk about us but that was a long time ago.20 years of irrelevance changed that. IUHAHN81 Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 Who thinks that the fact Archie is only 39 yrs old makes him and IU more attractive? Do u think the kids feel more in tune with him being younger than a 50+ yr old coach? GloryDays 1 Quote
psychobat3 Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 I got into a email war with Cowghill at WLKY regarding his lack of coverage of IU. He always responded with "sorry, ran out of time" after hearing this several times I finally emailed him back and said "sorry, ran out of patience.......won't be watching WLKY local news anymore. They actually cover Western Kentucky sports more than they do IU. IUsafety, reconmkd and GloryDays 3 Quote
