Class of '66 Old Fart Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 Vijay Blackmon. We all seem to overlook the fact he'll be eligible next season. I never saw many of his hs games so I can't comment on just what we might expect from him but can he give us some badly needed 3-pt. shooting? Hoosierfan2017 1 Quote

I used to be of the mindset that IU didn’t need guards in the 2019 class. With how Devonte and Durham have played, that opinion has changed. But talking about next year, guards are more a priority than bigs I'm hoping Damezi and Jerome can play some 2. Quote

He could maybe play in a pinch if injuries or depth issues become a problem. He isn't near the shooter though that James or Jalen are though so I don't think he would help that much with that. Quote
Myrmidon76 Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 I gotta ask. If bigs (as a group) aren't a concern, then at least the 5 has to be. There's no guarantee that Davis will even be ready to go in October and even if he was, his foul troubles really hinder our defense inside. I agree that guards are the priority next year, but we must shore up the 5 or outright find a better option via transfer or juco. I like Davis, but the future is more physical and demanding...I'm not sure how he'll cope. mdn82 and pumpfake 2 Quote

Nothing wrong with a lineup of for 3-4min stretches.. we would be able to play extremely fast and have a post presence with Morgan and Romeo... yes, Romeo will take some college 2s in post and play 4 around 1. Morgan Hunter McRoberts Romeo Green/Phinisee Quote

BGVille Hoosierfan Posted February 3, 2018 Posted February 3, 2018 Final Four favorites? No way. But a rotation that included Romeo, Morgan, Smith, Hunter, a successful big whether it be Race, Jake, DeRon, or Moore, a successful guard whether it be Phinissee, Green, or Durham, and a high-end grad transfer or two makes us Final Four 'consideration-ish'. Forgetting Damezi Anderson...he's going to have a huge impact for us next year. He's a player that can create his own shot, score with ease, and a great shooter. We lack each one of those with this team right now. He's gonna be an immediate impact guy and if he's playing along side Romeo with Phinisee running the show. We're gonna have one of the best backcourts in the B1G.Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app IUBBFan1970 and Hoosierfan2017 2 Quote
cthomas Posted February 3, 2018 Posted February 3, 2018 Even excellent freshmen worry me in terms of how much they can contribute early in their career. As has been mentioned, most struggle defensively and with the speed of the game. UK, who makes a living getting top talent every year, has only been truly outstanding when they have had two and three year guys playing major roles. Freshmen have no idea how hard they have to play at the high major level. And, unlike high school, they can't take plays off. Given out situation, freshmen will have to play next year, and in some cases play major roles. I just hope we don't set the expectation too high and give them a chance to grow and develop their game. I think, given some time, they will be very good. ElectricBoogaloo, A.j. Nigh, Iugradman and 3 others 6 Quote
