Yeah Garland played IU. Not quite Cliff Alexander level but he certainly seemed to lead us on.

I truly think he liked the attention our fans gave him. I mean his options were us, Kansas, or Vandy. Kansas fans weren’t really lighting up his twitter. Vandy has no fans. Romeo doesn’t do a lot of that tbh. When he does something it usually has meaning, not ego pumping. That said I have no idea where he goes, but feel we are in a solid spot.

Still saying Romeo stays home. I can see Kansas as the other choice, but NO Vandy. Reasoning...Adidas! I truly don't think any money has been pushed the Langford's way, but, what I see that may be happening is that Adidas has guaranteed Romeo a nice shoe deal if things fall into place and Romeo indeed fulfills all expectations of becoming a high draft choice. What people don't realize is that Pitino and Louisville wasn't the ones paying Bowen. It was Adidas who pushed and paid Bowen to choose UofL. Louisville is pretty much the flagship school for them. 160 million dollar contract over 10yrs. Verbals between the Langfords and Adidas may be in place now, but nothing shoveled their way until Romeo turns pro. I have been a long time supporter of the Romeo to IU train. As long as anyone on here. I also live in NA, went to NA, and reside in the same neighborhood as Romeo. I've watched him play dozens of times and have casually spoken to both he and his parents on sevetal occasions. The love that he has been feeling from all of the IU faithful throughout the state may be tipping point that turns him ultimately our way. I'm sorry, I just can't see him spending hrs after every game autographing every 6yr olds IU basketball jersey knowing that he is not going there. I guarantee he has signed more IU memorabilia than any current player on this team. I don't claim to have any inside info on this recruitment, but I promise you that NO ONE else on here does either. Contrary to what they may say lol. IU all the way...ROOAAAR!

Very nice post.

I didn't see the post on Peegs talking about a Friday announcement, but I'm gonna guess it said something like "his team is playing Friday on espnu...wouldn't it be cool if he announced for IU before the game?" which was then translated to "A poster on Peegs says he heard Romeo is announcing Friday before his game."

Exactly

didn't Wilkes come to about 7 IU games and commit to UCLA right after he went to one. i'm kidding of course, but it is an easy trip for Romeo to make an IU game. it could mean a lot or not much at all.

It’s about a two hour drive from New Albany to Bloomington. So not a quick trip down the road.

a free big ten game for a 2 hour drive on a Sunday, i'm thinking that's a pretty easy choice, but that's just me. i hope it was an important trip for Romeo that sways him to us.

It's so hard not to believe IU is the obvious and best choice.  Arch has done a great job so far with Indiana kids.  I hope since he didn't commit to Vandy when Garland did that it somehow puts us in a better place giving him a chance to see Vandy suck it up and IU somewhat turning things around at this point.  The chance to have a great supporting cast coming in next year and he can still be the main go to guy.  Just so easy to fall into the trap of IU being the spot.

Crean should have known Wilkes was gone when he was texting back and forth with Alford right in front of him

Well if drew was the hottest thing since sliced bread youd think he would have verballed after drews magical recruiting coup in november. Now he sees what junk basketball they have and the worlds worst arena.

In the Peegs chat he said that this weekend was a positive development for IU with respect to Romeo’s recruitment but nothing earth shattering. There remains legitimate interest. Other posters said things look very good for IU.
Good

Not that it matters, but how was the game free to him? If it's an unofficial, doesn't he have to pay for everything himself?

They're allowed to give tickets to prospects regardless of the type of visit.

On top of that don’t they usually have a few places reserved behind the bench for midy home games just in case a recruit wants to come in? You never know when a high school in state kid might decide he wants to come up a game.

While true, he is in the gym 3-4 hours a day, 6 days a week, on top of school. Any time you get a kid to travel their Senior year is a cherry on top. Most every other year they enjoy the attention.

Overhead at the game.  RP to Romeo:  When I tug my left ear lobe, you make a hard 45 degree cut to the foul line and then a hard 30 degree cut towards the PUke bench and the ball will be there for an open 3 in front of Painter.  Romeo to RP:  Man, this is gonna be a whole lotta fun.

Don't pinch me and wake me up!
