Many of our instincts were right about DG.

I don't YET have those instincts about Langford, but it is easy to be discouraged about our chances after the news today.

Sometimes building up hope and hype over a recruit doesn't do anyone any good.

I think I’m going to try and build hype and hope over the program and over the recruiting efforts as a whole. Getting invested in individual recruits is too up and down. I feel very good about our programs recruiting AS A WHOLE and for the future. We are trending way up no matter the DG and RL recruitments.

C'mon dude....these types of things happen in recruitments. It's not your fault and I don't think anybody thinks it's your fault. Look positively like you always do. Like I said, the world needs eternal optimism and so does this board

Well you thought wrong, just like Hoosier Guy! It's his fault we didn't land Garland, and it's his fault when we lose Romeo! He promised we would get both. He promised!

I will say no matter if Vandy got the top 10 players in the country, IU will have a legit shot at Romeo. Legit shot. I just can't be positive right now lol. Give ot a few days and everything will be okay. My expectations are we have a great shot at Romeo, but won't be earth shattering news if he does play w DG. '19 will be the class that gives us multiple top 50 guys though. I expect us to go after a few grad guys and other kids before it is all said and done though.

So you were still hearing garland to iu yesterday? It's amazing there is a very strong chance we will lose an Indiana legend to vandy. It's mind boggling actually.

I think we will have to go the grad transfer route for next season .

Honestly just think everyone needs a break for a few days. If we can't pull the season together and we lose out on Romeo optimism will be hard to find until next year. I am very excited for our class and think mixed in with what we have we will be a tourney team but until we get there....it's gonna feel like years have gone by lol.

People only need a break if they let a kids decision effect their lives moving forward. I follow recruiting as close as anybody and for me personally I don’t need a break. I chose to watch Garland and others (Swider) in the summer knowing there was a chance they wouldn’t end up at IU. Was I disappointed today absolutely but if u love following recruiting u better have a short term memory or you are going to be miserable. Maybe since this was the first top 10 kid IU has had a shot at in awhile got people who normally don’t follow closely jump in and follow recruiting closer but as you know this happens. At the end of the day I’m fine following as closely as I do because at the end of the day 13 kids are going to say yes and become Hoosiers and wear the candy stripes. If I track them and they decide go elsewhere I will end up watching them more closely in college then I would before. I can’t wait to watch Romeo on dec 9 at Southport even if he decides to commit to Vandy and I can’t wait until the summer to repeat the process over again and track new recruits

If we're recruiting a kid and he decides to go elsewhere then I generally stop following his career. It's nothing personal against a kid, I just lose interest if he decides to go somewhere else. Best of luck and on to the next recruit for me.

Yeaaaah, I'm done getting my hopes up. Obviously will still cover his recruitment, but probably gonna take more of a fan route on this one so I don't get too invested.

I don't feel good about it at all anymore. I thought if we got DG than it was likely we got Romeo so the rebuild would go quicker. Romeo can't help us rebuild by himself. And the rebuild is real that's for sure. I told people in here after watching practice that we need to slow down expectations.

That is not always so bad. We have good recruits already locked up.

We aren't immediately on blue blood recruiting level (DG and Romeo would have put us right there) but we are on that next level with 15-30 schools.

The path to success in that recruiting group is much more challenging but it can be done. But will it? My guess is if we continue to recruit like we have so far we will be formidable by year 3 and then hopefully onwards.

Not as fast as I'd like but based on our recruiting successes so far we at least have hope.

Nothing wrong with that approach. For me I’m such a huge college basketball fan as a whole that I would know who these kids would be regardless of if IU recruited them so following them in college makes me a little more invested when I watch their games

This is exactly how I am. Wish them luck, but generally forget they exist for the most part.

Not getting DG hurts, but not getting Romeo is going to be a real tough pill to swallow especially losing him to Vandy. Archie was playing from behind the whole time, which was a disadvantage. 2018 is a nice building class and hopefully 2019 is the homerun class that gets us back into the national spotlight.

Pretty much the way I am too. I'll pull for Vandy to win 2 games; against sUcKs.

Yeah I think we all got ahead of things thinking we would get 5 stars right off the bat. Grad transfers should help next year any maybe we can land a 5 star in 2019.T hat won't be easy either especially with Brooks. Michigan State will be on him very hard.

I hate kansas but i would much rather lose him to them then vandy. Thats going to be really tough to swallow.

Yeah I totally get that. Occasionally I'll see a team playing and wonder how such and such recruit is doing, but I don't watch much college basketball outside of IU so I usually forget about them.

We haven't lost him yet. Step away from the cliff.
