good analysis. Part of our fanbase frustrations lately.

I find myself frustrated not knowing how much to invest in the new players.  I was iffy with NZ not knowing if he would get the opportunity to play two years.  I liked Holt's game and intensity but he wasn't around long.  I liked what Abell brought to the team but he gone.  How much do I put into both OG and JMor staying all 4 years?  Maybe it's just me and my problem but there hasn't been much evidence that these players will be around all four years.  And seriously, what to do with MSB???  I mean I could see him leaving early to own the NBA, if he wants.

After the Warford, Hulls and Elston group we have struggled to get kids to stay four years. Yogi is the only one of his class. Most of Troy's class is gone. I'd like to think we keep RoJo, OG and JM for four but if Emmit, DD, Stan, Max, JH, HP taught us anything it is that we have had problems recently keeping kids.

this is exactly what I was trying to say, but it come off wrong...

Unfortunately, this isn't the first game he's had this season where he's effectively been shutdown. Can't determine if it's because opposing teams have simply shut him down with defense or he's just a streaky shooter.

I don't how competitive this game was but based on the score - maybe it's bc they blew the team out by 27 points and he didn't have to do much??

Thought he got shutout a month ago.

He's just not a kid who's ever going to go get his own points when a defense focuses almost solely on taking him away.  Just not the kind of player he is.  In that role, he's not going to succeed.  In a role where he can space the floor and simply be a shooter, he'll be fine.  He's not a great ball handler like Hulls or Yogi.  He's Todd Leary.  He's Matt Roth.

Teams focus on taking him away much of the time, and when that happens, Gelon is not going to be at his best.   Give him a year or two in college to develop strength and some additional maturity with his body, and I'd bet he'll be a decent piece.  I'm not sure I'd worry about his stats this season because he's playing out of his comfort zone and not within his skill set.  He's a recently known commodity which schools focus specifically on limiting.  That will never be the case for him at Indiana.
