Devin Davis cited for marijuana possession

Recommended Posts

I swear, our program is cursed by Robert Montgomery Knight!

The "RMK" curse, the teach it at Hogwarts....(I can't back any of this up)

Bottom line: This isn't about DD anymore. This isn't about marijuana. This is about the program! Damnit, can't you see that you have to lay down the law and more importantly, live by it. This isn't just one incident, this is/has been chronic (no pun intended). If you let your horses run wild, they will be wild and can't be rode. It's simple....I hate to see DD kicked off but it is something that needs to happen. Zero tolerance!

I am afraid that the process that both players will go through, will involve an impromptu drug test. I would believe HMP could be as vulnerable as DD to this. And Hanner had a past history, also. Possibly our deep bench has become a lot thinner.

This is what happens when your coach is a pushover and the players don't respect him.

We need a list of the off-court failings of this team and punishments.

Robinson/Williams - failed drug tests  (no apparent punishment)

Perea - DUI (2 1/2 game suspension)

Robinson/Ferrell - Fake IDs (no apparent punishment)

Robinson/Williams - failed drug tests (3 game mandatory NCAA punishment)

Holt/Davis - alcohol related incident (Holt 3 game suspension, Davis soph year without basketball)

Davis - possession of marijuana (TBD)

That's within the last 12-18 months.  Ouch!

Like I said... he should know the rules. He should know where he stands within the program and that he represents the University.

My message is to everyone ripping this kid apart for nothing. I don't think it's wrong to smoke some pot over the summer as a college student, but it is against the rules and law. Devin will pay for that citation (literally) and he will be punished from his team. Done deal. Live and learn. He made a mistake. Leave the kid alone.

If this were a singular event I would agree with you, but it's not. This along with the alcohol related incident and all the negativity surrounding the program cannot be ignored. He is not just another college student. He is a representative of IU and iubb. There are not Internet forums for normal college students. IMHO he is selfish, immature and forfeited his right to represent IU.

Ridiculous. You would think that he would've learned a lesson after he almost lost his life because of some very bad decisions and now this. Doesn't matter if its going to be legalized or if people don't agree with the law, the fact is that he broke the law and broke rules. I feel sorry for the kid because of all he has gone through, but enough is enough

I still guarantee this happens at 75% of D1 NCAAB schools. They just are smarter about it

I'm not concerned about other schools, this is IUBB. I'm probably much older than most on here, but I remember when iubb was synonymous with excellence on and off the court. Am I naive enough to think that past players didn't drink or smoke? No, but they had enough sense/respect not to get caught.

Lol.. Is crean suppose to get a sleeping bag and have sleepovers with the players? Devin is an adult and this is on him to make better decisions.. Amazing how everyone wants to blame crean for everything

Well apparently, Crean hasn't been able/willing to get their attention. He is the guardian of the program, and it's reputation. He isn't getting that part of his job done.

They don't respect their coach enough. The coach is not responsible for him, but this is an aspect of his job he should have had a firm handle on for the past two years.

He should be fired, but the only reason he has a job is because of the talent we have for next year. That's it. Sad.

All you can as a fan is just laugh. If Ol Tom is gonna have his second coming as a coach he better start off with a dismissal.

He is such a nice guy and coach. However, his leadership style is best suited for people that don't need discipline, are more mature self-motivated and  have a strong leadership ethos within the unit/ team members themselves.

Unfortunately, that leadership style is not what is needed at this time with this program.

Agree to disagree.

Not saying it makes the situation any better considering the morale behind if, but why in the world could they not have gone outside or in someone's car? A dorm room, seriously? It's the dumbest thing you can do as a resident of a dorm.

I would advise against a car, but I see your overall point and agree. But like I said...some are smarter than others.

Nobody was smoking, he was cited for possession. Nobody was even arrested. I'm sorry but I fail to see Hanner's guilt in any of this.

If nobody was smoking, how did the odor of marijuana smoke from a 2nd floor window get noticed? From outside?

That would take a decent amount of smoke from a room in which nobody was smoking.
