people may not believe but I think it would have helped the team and Jeremy. To be able to play with that starting group then he would have been good.

Sheehey didn't start during Hollowells freshman year. I think it should have been Yogi, Vic, Hollowell, Watford and Zeller. With Hulls, Sheehey and Elston the first 3 off the bench. I think it would have been best for Hollowell and the team.

I know Sheehey didn't start, with Hollowell starting he would have jumped Sheehey in the rotation. That's why I was asking Sheehey too.

yes I think he should. I kind of think of it as a Harrison Barnes/Warriors situation. Barnes struggled when playing with the 2nd group but has thrived playing with the starters. I think it would have really tapped into his potential(which he had a CRAP ton of) and made him realize what he had. But he sat the bench a lot.

Harrison Barnes and Hollowell are on different planets in terms of potential and production. I think Hollowell has a ton of potential and could be a really good player if he gave a damn. His actions on/off the court showed differently though.

One problem there: Harrison Barnes is actually good at basketball.

Actually, I'm very positive about:

1.  The contributions our 3 incoming recruits will have on next year's team.

2.  The improvement in the overall basketball skill level of Yogi and Troy we saw this past season and I'm positive we'll see even more improvement next season.

3.  RoJo not just because he can shoot, but this kid knows how to get rebounds from the guard position.

4.  I think RoJo and JBJ hit the freshmen wall late in the season and while I don't have the stats at hand to back me up, I suspect their shooting percentages both tailed off in the last quarter of the season.  I'm positive that won't happen next season.

5.  I'm very positive on EH and what he showed us last season after not having joined the team until school started.

6.  I'm positive we'll see solid contributions from Nick Z again next season.

7.  I'm positively astounded at Colin Hartman's recovery from surgery and the contributions he gave us last season and I'm positive we'll see the same and more next season.

8.  I'm positive Max B. will give us some good interior help for his 1-year in candystripes.

9.  I'm positive our defense will be much improved (let's be realistic on this, how much worse could it really get?)

10.  I'm positive MSB will continue to be a crowd favorite if he never sees a single minute of action.

Is that better?

Wow! What a sunshine pumper.

Well I liked those 3. In fact I think Hollowell should have started his freshman year. I liked PJ because of his name plus he was a shot blocker (you can't teach timing) but was never healthy so we can't ever be mad at him. We also can't be mad at HMP because he did fairly well with what he was given his Junior year. He really didn't play at all his first two years and had to sit out games along with PJ. Hollowell sat out games that year too.

Did you ever really watch Hollowell play?

Yes. He was just fine his freshman. And there were much better ways to use him. Like not throwing him in the post.

You mean besides the fact that he consistently looked lost on the court. His body language sucked, though this stuck out more his second year. But yeah, other than looking lost every time he took the court against a  non 300+ RPI team he looked just fine

I don't know what games you were watching while being so impressed with Hollowell but do know I want some of what you were smoking! Lol

Hollowell couldn't find his way out of a wet paper bag. He was horrible.

Sure. If you can't see talent and just want to hate on former players.

None of us could see his talent because he never displayed it. He really, really struggled at IU. I hope he succeeds at GSU, but unless you're basing your analysis of his talent on his play prior to IU, I have no clue when you saw Hollowell playing to his potential.

IMO, Hollowell was a turnover machine that while talented, he lacked focus and was slightly above average at a lot of different things, but not particularly great at any one thing. He's a below average ball handler, average athlete, average shooter, decent rebounder, average defender, etc. Just nothing stands out.

Imagine if Watford was an average shooter? He would have been much less valuable. Watford being a great shooter is what makes him valuable and stand out. Hollowell doesn't have that thing, which makes him pretty average IMO.

For Real, man.  I'm really starting to think that this FindEndNow dude is some sort of Troll or the Ultimate Devil's Advocate.  I never ever call people out on this board but after reading his last couple posts I am beyond confused at what he sees.  So if Jeremiah April was our best Post Player, and Jeremy "420" Hollowell should of been starting his Freshman year, does that mean that Peter Jurkin was also the next coming of DJ White?  I'm so confused.

So let me get this, the summary of the last few pages of this thread is that 1) Jeremiah April was a best post player last year and 2) Jeremy Hollowell should've started as a freshman on a team that was consistently ranked no. 1 without even earning it. Man some of you guys need to put down whatever you are taking and get out and get some air hahaha

Not some, just one.

Hollowell actually showed some flashes in his limited minutes. Kid had great vision and was actually an alright rebounder at the time. I never said he was going to be amazing but would have been good for about 15-20 minutes a game. Just because you start doesn't mean you have to play 30 minutes. Normally it's who finishes that matters. I just said he should have started. Because it wouldn't have been bad for him. That's a massive confidence booster and would be huge to play with Yogi, Vic, Watford and Zeller. Plus when he came in off the bench, he was thrown right into the post. Obviously was not his comfort spot. But I'd say it has been incredibly normal for Crean to play players away from their strengths.
