Pathetic. I'd say there's a chance for redemption in the BT tournament but, well, let's be honest.

Just for perspective, last year we finished the last 11 games of the regular season at 4-7 in a much tougher league. In that stretch, we played 4 ranked teams and beat 3 of them. The only loss to a ranked team was a 4 point loss at #12 UM.

If we lose to MSU, we will finish the last 11 games at 3-8. We would have played 2 ranked teams in the stretch and lost both games. A win against MSU will equal last year finish.

Right now, we might be facing Minnesota in the first round of the Big 10 tournament. Anyone feeling confident on a neutral court?

Using the trusty B1G standings predictor machine, (link: http://bball.notnothing.net/big10.php?sport=mbb ) it seems more likely that we play Northwestern in round 1 than Minnesota. I've ran into 5 or 6ish scenarios where we face NW and one where we open with Michigan, but a ton of upsets would have to happen.

Update: If we win Saturday and the rest of the league holds serve (based on current standings) we would actually be the 6 seed playing the winner of Rutgers/NW then playing into Purdue. If we lose Saturday and the league holds serve, we would get that 7 vs 10 Minnesota matchup into Maryland.

Any way we end up as the 8?

It's funny how quickly things can change. About three weeks ago there were some of us saying Crean wasn't cutting the mustard and there were others who were really bashing is saying we had no idea how great of job Crean was doing and all the talking heads were on their side. Crean was marvelous. Funny how 3/4 weeks can change things. He's reached his level I believe. This is who he is. You question is...are we willing to be satisfied with THIS as the state of IUBB? I hope not

Wonderful.  If we have to play one of the top 4 seeds, I want it to be Maryland.

It starts win a win on Crean's senior night.  (you think he makes a speech at the end?)

3 weeks? This has been dominating IU boards since we lost to Cuse in the tournament. Not to mention there have been people talking about him not being good enough since year 3

Yep, year 3 is when that little voice in the back of my head started whispering "this guy aint what I thought".

Also...we have been relegated to First Four status. Lunardi has us in the 11 seed play in game vs Colorado State playing into #6 Providence and then likely to #3 Oklahoma. Call me a crazy optimist, but that doesn't sound all that bad lol. I'm forever rooting for us to make a tournament run and nothing will change that regardless of how I feel about the coach.

CSU is pretty decent this year. If Larry Eustacy can stay away from the co-ed parties the night before the game they probably handle us on a neutral court.

I've got an idea.  I haven't quite ironed out all the details yet, so bear with me; but basically it's a coach by committee approach.

Crean can do PR and press conferences when things are going well, so he can answer with platitudes that make you wonder if he even watched the game and there is no chance he gets any criticism but have someone ready to tag in just in case a hard question gets thrown at him.  For the game and press conferences when things aren't going well, he's not allowed within a 5 mile radius of Assembly Hall; I say 5 miles because I figure by this point enough of the fan base is against him there's no way he'll get a ride, you know what just to be safe better make it 20.

I've never been a huge fan of Crean but as recently as about three weeks to a month ago I was taken to task by a couple of people who thought I was too rash and harsh in my judgement of Crean. After some consideration I thought maybe I was so I've not made to many comments lately and have tried to hope for the best...nope! I think I was right! He's just mediocre.

I can see that. I do think a lot of people's opinion got swayed after last season, like mine. And then a bigger group after the off the court stuff this offseason

I had about four phases to my reversal. So I try to understand that with others. Even if we lose by 50 to MSU and do not make the tourney a few will still not have fully made the switch
