Pretty much. Smaller schools with smaller budgets can have the same level of expectations as a big budget program.

 Fair enough.

Would it also be fair to say if a big budget school allocated much more money to its basketball coach than to the coach of the traditional revenue driving sport expectations should be higher for the basketball coach then at most other big budget schools?

Crean 3.5 vs Wilson 1.2

#1 - Block out, block out, block out some more (you may get a rebound doing this, you may prevent the other team from getting a rebound).

#2 - Always stay between your man and the basket (you may foul once in a while, but move your feet and you may block the shot being 7').

#3 - Screen (you don't have to be an offensive option, we have those.  Free up the ones who can score).

Pretty basic down to earth stuff for April right?

Get this kid some minutes and see.

In terms of generating revenue, yes.  If the coach loses money for the school, the contract should be re-evaluated.

Indiana was TERRIBLE when we accepted a verbal from Patterson, Jurkin, Ferrell, Perea, Etherington, Blackmon, Lyles, Hollowell, Zeller, Hartman and Davis.

Who did you, at the time they commited, want us to tell thanks but no thanks?

Crean was on a recruiting role though at that time. The 13 class looked great and we had Zeller in the fold for 11. The 12 class was highly ranked and we did say no to guys like Dunham and did not make Harris a priority.

As much recruiting momentum as he had at that time the 12 miss is the one that really hurt. That was a top 5 class nationally and were mostly local kids who we should have known more about. The miss on that class set us back several years.

Bad luck, bad recruiting it has hurt the program and honestly might have created to big of a hole to climb back out of in time.

Dunham had committed to Butler before breaking out on the high school scene. And Harris definitely was a priority for Crean. Crean worked his tail off, but in the end, Harris chose a different route.

Working hard I will not question but a big way to show value is to keep a roster spot open for a kid. Had Harris committed he would have bumped someone else. Some insiders claim this was a reason he did. It come. I have no idea but if true and I have said before, it is not my job to ID talent and recruit kids. That is Creans job and call it bad luck or poor recruiting decisions but that class set us way back. You cannot swing and miss on a 3 members of a five man top five class. Especially when half of the remaining two has been widly inconsistent

Syracuse swung and missed with Patterson as well cause the kid is so bad he can't even sniff the court their. At the time, we would've looked dumb not to go after and sign Hanner and Hollowell. These kids were ranked in the top 50 nationally in their class. The fact that their haven't worked hard on their own is not Creans fault.
And I think a lot of the Harris situation had to do with some recruiting violations as well. He was contacted during a period that he wasn't supposed to have been. If Harris really would've wanted to come and Crean felt like he would've come, there would've been a spot for him.

And I said bad luck or poor recruiting. Regardless that large class set us back big time

agree with some of this, but Patterson has sniffed the court this season a fair amount. Not doing much with his time though, so your point likely stands.

At what cost do people really want to see April on the floor? Any minutes he plays are going to be taken from others. Personally see no reason to give him any minutes over Hartman, Holt or any of our guards so where do his minutes come from?

We have guys who are by all reports working harder in practice and understand our offensive and defensive schemes much better. We can't just throw in a freshman with no clue what he's doing and minimal talent into a game. Suggesting April should automatically get a look here is suggesting that this season is a lost cause. At 13-4 (3-1) I can't justify that.

I would gladly give up MH minutes to JA just for some size every now and then. Not saying he should get big mins but I don't think we have a choice against the bigs of UI, PU and Wisky coming up

Run, make sure you're conditioned enough to get up and down the court. Once we secure the D rebound go balls to the wall down the court. Vice versa get back after a missed or made shot. Stand in the lane unless you're hedging a screen or closing out on a shooter.

Get your workouts in so you don't get pushed around. Keep a low base so you don't get backed down in the post

Study film and the playbook so you know what's going on. Don't compound one mistake with another.

Ahhh whatever, just give Holt and Hoetzel more minutes until you're ready.

Really agree! That class set us back and just killed our recruiting momentum! Crean is really struggling to recover and as of now he still hasn't recovered!

To some degree I feel them not working hard is Creans fault. Judging who does and does not have a good work ethic is his job. A miss every now and then on that matter is ok but he gets paid rather well to make those decisions.
