It goes beyond wins and losses.  We are not a good team right now, but fortunately many of the teams we've played have been scrubs.  The product on the floor is pretty pathetic; we don't play defense, we can't rebound, and offensively the only chance we have is to hope low percentage shots are falling.

 

This team has to improve a lot to just to have a chance at the tournament, the product we're seeing right now might make the NIT.

Eh, I disagree about the idea that the majority of the site isn't supporting the team. There are some who come off as they don't, but we all want this program to succeed to the highest extent. They just see different ways to get there.

 

Also, quite frankly I'm fine with people like Kepner leaving. He spent so much time complaining about other posters, that crap got old fast. That is the crap I can't stand. I don't agree with people on their opinion, but I don't go around complaining because their view doesn't conform to what I believe. 

 

Rebel, I just want to say you're one of my favorite posters. I don't see eye to eye with you on pretty much anything, but you handle the difference in opinion stuff as well as anyone.

People who try to make a big deal about their own departures because they can't handle the Negative Nacy's value their presence too much. We all say the same stuff over and over, both positive and negative.

I agree with you though; IU basketball is 5-1 with one bad loss in a close game. Sure, a couple of the games looked horrid, but we've got a long season ahead, with a lot of room for growth and improvement. This team is still better than last year's, in my opinion, we have players who do seem to get it on the floor. Crean hasn't been as bad of an in-game coach as usual, and our turnovers have decreased to 17.3%.

Improvements have been made, with major improvement needed in the post. Holt looked to have a lot of potential, and Hanner seemed to respond to the benching.

All will be good.

I am already on record---before the season saying we need to change Coach if we have another subpar year this year and don't make the NCAA tourney.

 

What I will not do is play the doom and gloom game and write the season off before it even gets started when we all know we have a young team that has to learn how to play big time defense quickly---I think we still get it done.

 

I have a lot of optimism---I think we will beat Pitt.

 

Our guards will help us win a lot of games this year.

 

It is just too early to panic.

I like your view here, Reb. I'm trying to have the same outlook, but the product on the floor thus far is making it difficult. I was a pretty solid defender of Crean before the season, but my support has dramatically dropped after these past few games.

It's NCAA tournament or bust for Crean. No tourney, then it's time for a change.

I'll always support IU but man, my optimism tank is really low when it comes to Crean.  I hope we do improve and step it up in December and beyond, but I'm extremely skeptical.  It would be different if I strongly felt like we are building towards a better future with our roster but this is two years in a row with a poorly constructed roster.  When is the next time we will put a balanced team on the court in terms of both talent and experience???

It's a young team. They will win some that they should probably lose and will lose some that they should probably win. Do I think crean is the right coach? Not sure. My outlook has not changed. No tourney this year, drop him.

And don't give the recent sweet 16 run as evidence of success. Baloney. I'm supposed to be happy with 2 or 3 good yrs out of twenty. It's gotten so bad for me, after the Lamar game that I don't care if I watch the game anymore. I haven't watched the last 2 and don't care if I see anymore the rest of this season. I'm not a bandwagon fan either. My 31 years of watching IU bball (even CTCs 1st season) my world comes to a halt because the IU game is on. This season, I could care less and that's very difficult for me. I'm not accepting mediocrity anymore! Won't do it. Guys haven't we seen enough?? I'm having an extremely hard time supporting some of these ungrateful young men on this team.

For as much as posters want to complain about the criticisms, being critical isn't much of an issue.  The opposite of love isn't hate, it's apathy.  The problem comes when fans stop caring, the coach is losing the fans not when they're critical of him but when they no longer care.

Either way it's entertainment. Each person has to decide where their interests lie. To me I will support every sport at IU regardless of what is going on. It is frustrating, but do people really forget one fundamental feature of IU basketball? Are there names on the jerseys? No? Why not? Because it's about the name on the front, not back. Wasn't that one of RMK biggest things? I know where I lean on this subject. If there is anything good on the Hallmark Channel definitely add it to the MVP thread that night.

I might actually watch the grumpy cat movie on Lifetime.  I fully expect that movie to suck out loud like pretty much everything else that channel makes, but it can't be any worse than paying EW to beat us at home  :D .
