IU vs UNC Greensboro Post Game Thread

Recommended Posts

Being home from Nebraska for the weekend, time is spent with the wife and daughter. Had the game on along with the end of the ISU game. Had to watch closer over the last ten minutes. Gas pedal is on the right. To me, there is no killer instinct. Weren't they up by 20 at one point?!?

Yes, we were.  We were up double digits at half, so we got outscored in the second.

What's the over/under on number of comments that make you wonder if he even watched the game?

I quit listening to the pressers a long time ago and have no intention of doing it now, but I'm going to guess it'll be the usual long, drawn-out platitudes like "we just need to focus more" or "our intent just wasn't there" and other vague statements that don't really say anything.

I'm befuddled more when he describes the problems we made on the floor as if he's a TV analyst and had no control over making any changes or adaptations to the gameplan.

pappy, IU was up 56-34 after scoring the 1st 6 points of the 2nd half.

Crean praising deflections again. Does this equal good defense in his mind? I don't care about deflections unless more than half of them result in points at the other end for us.

He praises something and his team plays d with their arms at their sides. Just terrible coaching as always. We're back to the weird sub patterns; Hanner fouls and gets yanked without being in foul trouble. I will never understand what his teams are trying to accomplish at any times during the game. They play like their behind when thy're up. Make the same mistakes over and over again. Team improvement is just never there. They play worse basketball as the year gets longer, and his coach speak at this point in time is irritating at best; even comical if I didn't love the university. He's made us a laughingstock of what we have become. We're not feared; we have E Washington's of the world excited to come play as at home. I could go on and on. Do you have a few hours?

This has always stood out to me as well, and in my opinion it probably says the most about his lack of coaching ability.

Crean is the deflection king! No one can deflect a question like he can.

Tonight was...well...interesting. It was my first time this year sitting close to the bench and I spent most of the time listening to the bench/staff,etc. For a young, defensively challenged team, I'm not sure what the benefit is for us to change defenses in the middle of their possession. We did it multiple times tonight. The only confusion it seemed to cause was for our own team.

In other news, the Celtics are now 4-9. ;)

I get why crean likes deflections cause he thinks that they r active on d but I wish he would stick to the more basic of turning the other team over and just counting that. I find myself watching for these deflections and laughing cause the other team maintains posetion and then drains a three or something so aggravating

Lol. I'll watch his post game press conference and he will spout of some ridiculous number of deflections and I wonder if they are watching the same game as me. Kinda like when a player gets on campus they grow 2 inches. There have been games where Crean says they have close to a deflection a possession. In my eyes unless the ball changes its trajectory it's not a deflection. So I dont know what they are counting.

some of our 3's went in

some of the other guys went in

defense was.... okay at times. All in all, i think our overall defense is average, maybe below average. Hanner falls for every shot attempt , which will kill us in the B1G.

Our offense.. ehhh. i don't even know.

I've said it before, i'll say it again, if our three's are not falling, the game will be tough to watch. Live and die by the three.

Troy and Hanner are athletes, not basketball players and its evident by their wild play. You can tell by watching Holt that he has great instincts and feel for the game. Imo he needs to start over one of those 2.

Holt does have better instincts than Hanner, of course he's been playing the game longer too.  Holt looked like he could help eventually, but I saw a player that has a ways to go himself.

Remember, he was doing that against a low major.

Heres the thing that should have all of us fans worried. By all accounts we are pretty bad right now. Looking back over the previous 6 years of the Crean era, good team or bad, when have we seen marked improvement by a team over the course of a season? I would argue we haven't. Some have said in the past the 2011-12 team but I would say they were as good at the beginning (beating UK) as they were at the end. A few of those team actually got worse(including last years team) over the course of a season. We have no history to tell us this team is going to get better and this is probably my biggest beef with Crean.

Does a deflection really matter if we still give up a wide open 3 or an easy layup?
