There may have been a time when Izzo wanted the IU job but that time has passed. He's at MSU for life now.

They aren't really that snap, it's been the same thing the entire season so far. We can't defend in the post and we can't even pretend that we can. We are all watching a team that is helpless on defense and wins by happening to out shoot at the right time. Lamar matched our points during the final 24 minutes. Lamar. Ranked 341st out of 351 teams by KenPom after they played us.

And tonight we lost on coaching. They weren't better than us, they didn't crack our code. We didn't put up any fight against them or seem to make any efforts to use our strengths to our advantage.

 

Maybe snap wasn't the right word. But in the heat of the moment, people have strong opinions. All I'm saying is that I'm trying to let the moment dictate how I feel about Crean's future.

The boosters won't pony up that kind of money unless they know they can get "their guy." If their guy is Brad Stevens, he's going to need to become available. If it's some other high- or mid-major head coach, they are going to need to be pretty sure they can land him before pulling the trigger on the buyout. 

 

It's a TON of money and if they can't get the guy they want, what's the point? We're better off with Crean than missing on Stevens, et al.

Honestly, our next coach needs to be more a disciplinarian. Crean always seems to want to be their friend. Players need a coach, not a friend.

I agree about Shaka. I don't see his style of play winning consistently in the B1G or in the tournament. It's gimmicky.

I would prefer Wittman over Woodson. Wittman can kick butt. We need some of that around here.

I do not know. The point is there are too many people afraid of the change convinced we will have to take someone terrible and be bad for 5 years after the change. There were people interested the last few times. So we do not like (Cal and Rick) and some we would like - Izzo.

I truly believe that if an IU alum were considered (and that's truly an "if"), the overwhelmingly most likely name that would be the focus would be Keith Smart.

I'm honestly not worrying about the "who" right now. If the job comes available there will be top candidates interested. The right guy (Good coach and top recruiter) could turn this thing around pretty quickly.

The worst part of the whole thing, at least for us, is let's say the decision has been made to find a new coach (heck, it could have been made when everything came out a couple weeks ago) if everything is done right then we won't know about it until the spring. If they're handling the transition and search correctly we should have zero idea that anything has changed at all. We'll continue to impotently get angry and make suggestions and debate what could happen all while everything is already happening behind the scenes.
