So who's going to be the new Coach next year?

Recommended Posts

Yes, I do only because I live in SEC territory. He is very undervalued by everyone in a football conference. The same goes for UK believe it or not except for the inbreds in their state. All the talk is always gator football and it always will be. It would cost us, but he would be worth every penny. Lights out recruiter also. Every Indiana burger boy would stay home, and he wouldn't need to leave IN, Ohio, and IL to recruit much like the General.

I'd much rather have him than Stevens,TBH.

Crean stepping down is highly unlikely...especially since he has a buyout like he does!

Agree, only if he is told not so nicely if he doesn't he will be fired for breaching his contract. Indiana graduates a lot of lawyers and hiding "focus" problems may get his tenure a final ending.

It appeared to me that when the chess match was really on in the last 10-12 minutes that we were out coached.

We led most of the game, and when it came down to coaching; Crean resorted to his only offense he knows best. Yogi 1 on 5 chucking up bad shots and hoping they go down. Crean is just clueless on in game manegement and drawing up any play(s) to put us in a position to win. If we go to OT, 9 times out of 10 we would win it.

In my mind Donavon is a bigger pipe dream than Stevens. Hes walked away from the money in the NBA, and returned to Florida. Hoiberg is good, but he is at his alma mater. I like Shaka and Marshall. Even investigate Miller. Bennet would be a good option. We need a coach, thats certain. This tram is not ready to do any damage in conference play.

I will pass on anyone from the Cal or Patino coaching tree...Slime oozes from each and no reason to get ourselves in another issue....I don't care what anyone says, I like Alford and it is too bad we were unable to grab him before UCLA did...( Yadda Yadda insert nutjob IOWA rape stories in 3...2...) Stevens is another good choice, not sure why anyone would be against the guy...perfect example of a guy that was able to win with less talent than the big boys which Crean has been unable to do thus far....Please, no Shaka Zulu talk either....some of you would have taken the guy from Florida Gulf Coast because of a miracle year too....I want proven coaching ability with long term experience...or else we might as well just plan on rotating coaching chairs every 5-10 years with no results...

You don't want slime, but you'll take Alford? The rape case mishandling isn't exactly a nut job story. A lot of people here are upset with Crean for "hiding" failed drugs tests. I presume there would be an equal or greater reaction if Crean claimed a player convicted of sexual assault, later convicted for a second sexual assault, was innocent. I think Alford can stay right where he is.

The most staggering stat is the FACT that Tom Crean has only been to the sweet sixteen 3 times in 15 years as a head coach for UM and IU....that is unacceptable as a head coach for IU, if you think that is okay in any way, you need to be cheering for another team..

Nutjob rape stories? Shaka Zulu? Are you just trying to offend people at this point? If so can you get lost

Shaka won't come here. Billy won't..

We don't have many good options i think..

I do not really want Shaka but I do not think he is long for VCU. Every time he flirts with another school he agrees to stay in exchange for some new perk. To his credit a lot of the perks have been pay for assistants and facilities. I was in Richmond this summer when he was a candidate somewhere and the sport radio talk were getting mixed reviews. A lot of the fans were tiring of this on his part and the passion to keep him is less than before. Sport radio talk is not equiv to fact and logic but it is representative of some portion of the fan base which is representative of the board who annually keeps working to keep him happy.

I'd like to have someone who has made it to the Final 4 more than once. If they fit that criteria and run a clean program let's hire them.

Izzo would likely not come now but he was very interested before. Kravitz alluded to this for years but recently stated that he still has emails from Izzo to Kravitz asking for his help in landing the IU job. Yeah Kravitz is not my favorite sports guy but I believe this.

Izzo only backed off because Crean was a contender/finalist at that point.

Don't think Izzo will come this time either but there are people out there with high pedigrees who are very interested.
