Current KenPom predicted final Big Ten standings:

  • Purdue 15.6 - 4.4
  • Rutgers 12.3 - 7.7
  • Indiana 12.2 - 7.8
  • Illinois 12.1 - 7.9
  • Maryland 11.8 - 8.2
  • Michigan St 11.7 - 8.3
  • Northwestern 11.6 - 8.4
  • Iowa 11.4 - 8.6
  • Michigan 10.4 - 9.6
  • Wisconsin 8.8 - 11.2
  • Penn St 7.9 - 12.1
  • Nebraska 6.9 - 13.1
  • Ohio St 5.4 - 14.6
  • Minnesota 2.0 - 18.0

Kenpom always loves slow trans with good defenses. It historically loved those Bo Wisky teams. Rutgers is much the same this season.

We really haven’t moved much in weeks and I doubt we will.

Or it could be that 5 of 6 remaining games for Rutger are against 5 of the bottom 6 teams in the Big 1.o (counting Michigan as the last of the 8-6 teams) and a home game against Northwestern.

So does NW get ranked?

I mean, 9-5 tied w/us for 2nd in B1G, 18-7 overall,  3-1 against AP, wins include #1 PU, us in the Hall, Illinois, @MSU,.

I get that their OCC is weak but kind of surprising to me that they're not getting a little more love, tied w/us for 2nd and with those Ws.

Yeah, I agree.  I know the computers don't like them (mine has them #45) because of the non-conference schedule and results.  And I wonder sometimes if the voters follow the computers' lead for a school like Northwestern that rarely gets ranked and people don't see a lot.  But their Big 10 resume speaks for itself.

Answer is in: NW is just out, 2nd most receiving votes

Bama is No. 1. Houston is No. 2. PU is No. 3

We're 14th.

My question: Who are the two who voted the Toiletmakers No. 1? They've lost 2 of 3.

A self hating IU grad: https://collegepolltracker.com/basketball/pollster/dylan-sinn/2022/week-15

Stories say that 'Bama is No. 1 for the first time in 20 years.

Anybody remember what happened back then?

Shortly after they were No. 1, their season really went off the rails. They dropped all the way to a No. 10 seed in the NCAAs and lost in the first round to -- you guessed it -- your No. 7-seeded Indiana Hoosiers.

The coach was Mark Gottfried, who went on to get busted for NCAA violations at N.C. State and Cal State Northridge.

The NCAA men’s basketball transfer portal opens on March 13th and will be open until May 11th for 2023-24.

Pretty sure we will see at least one current team member in it, maybe more.

I read yesterday that Purdue became the 7th team in the last 20 years to lose 3 times as a #1 team in the same season. Of the other six, none of them reached the Final Four. One of those six was our 2013 team.

What I couldn't verify was how many of those teams lost as a #1 team in separate weeks. Ours did, as well as this Purdue team.

Hopefully not. The entire starting lineup (counting XavierJohnson instead of Trey Galloway) will be gone. IU only has two committed recruits coming in next season.  If we lose more to transfers, the team will have fewer than 10 players. IU can't count on transfers--we lost out on every single target last spring and summer.

Didn't they get smoked in the Big 1.o/ACC Challenge and have a few other meh to bad losses? They have beaten two of the top teams in the Big 1.o, something neither purdoodoo or we can claim.

Pittsburgh smashed them but they are looking like a tourney team and Auburn beat them by 1 on a neutral court.  Interesting resume for sure.  Lost at home to Rutgers, Michigan and Ohio St but have road wins against Sparty, IU, Wisky, Ohio st and Nebraska.   Non con sos in the 290s and getting swept by Michigan is the black eyes on the resume.     Solid 7-10 seed team for me

Those are the ones! Is Wiscy and Neb on the road really that big of wins? You certainly don't want to lose those but they don't seem like great wins.

? We beat PU, the #1 team in the B1G. We beat (stomped) the Illini, they're currently 3rd, and MSU, they're currently 4th.
