More bad tidings for Nebrasketball:

Nebraska's Kurt Rambis/Dwight Schrute doppelganger is out for the season. He is in reality a pretty well-regarded recruit who has had some good moments.

A great post from one of the Nebrasketball boards:

What is worst case scenario, I’m legitimately asking.. We’ve already been banning ourselves from postseason play for years with our putrid play. Scholarships? This team is arguably the worst in the B1G already so can’t get much lower. Team would probably be better with 12 walk-one that played unselfish basketball and good defense anyway. We have to fire Hoiberg? Good chance but all this does is give us justification to greatly reduce his buyout will actually save us a lot of money.. at this point I think the worst case is the NCAA forces us to give Fred a 10 year contract and keep things exactly as is and we have to watch this horrendous basketball for years to come

Now that's a great perspective

I would've never guessed this was how the ending of the Nebrasketball Hoiberg era would look. I said the same about Archie too, so maybe I'm just a stupid, no-good, slow-learning, cotton-headed ninnymuggins.

Guess it depends on what "some people" means.

My guess is a dozen or so people in Lincoln, Nebraska ...

Just out of curiosity, who is the best coaching duo in the B1G? It'd be hard to beat the Ryan Day-Chris Holtmann tandem, perhaps with Juwan Howard-Jim Harbaugh as a distant runner-up ...

There were comments from IU fans saying things like "sad that Nebraska cares more about its basketball program than IU" when Nebraska hired Hoiberg.

Hoiberg has been on my sh*t list ever since he insisted on coaching his team in the Big Ten tournament even though he was sick, right before Covid shut everything down. Maybe the rest of the BTT would have been canceled anyway, but him leaving the game sick in the second half probably got that whole avalanche of cancellations started. He should have just stayed home if he felt that poorly. Just really, really bad optics.

I don't think Hoiberg coaching sick had anything to do with the cancellations. That seems a bit shorted sighted. I do agree it was bad optics.

Nebraska basketball from 247  --

Speculation surrounding possible violations in the Nebraska men’s basketball program in the last 24-48 hours have grown, Stadium’s Jeff Goodman reports. It’s grown so much that director of athletics Trev Alberts took to Twitter Tuesday evening to release a statement.

“I am aware of recent public speculation regarding our men’s basketball program,” Alberts said. “”Our compliance staff has been in communication with the NCAA today and was told there is no active or pending investigation into our men’s basketball program. Coach Hoiberg and I have talked and he has assured me his program is compliant with NCAA rules.”

With as much smoke as there is growing around the Nebraska program. I am really starting to wonder just how bad are the things that Kentucky is being investigated about. I know Calimari's fan base have turned on him, but are they now throwing Fred under the bus so they can get rid of their coach? .... hmmmm

Yeah. That last sentence is positioning. So if noncompliance comes out they can play the “he lied to us and we had no knowledge of wrongdoing” card.

Aaaaand to editorialize a bit…. Nebraska getting the hammer isn’t justice. First off, my general take that when there is this much money involved, the talent deserves to get something resembling fair compensation. Second, as EVERYONE points out, they punish the worst team in the B1G while there is blatant noncompliance by the marquee programs. It’s silly. It does nothing to create a level playing field.

Yeah sure it’s cheating, but this isn’t the kind of action that creates change. Because they don’t want change. No, I’m not saying anything groundbreaking here.

The worst of the optics is he looked ******* dead on the bench and his assistant coach (probably rightly so) was constantly bathing himself in antibacterial soap.  Also didn't play well that he was so sick that he couldn't finish the game.

Memphis up 5 at half on Bama.  Both teams have 11 turnovers

Arizona St up 1 at Creighton with 26 sec to go

Arizona is more than capable of screwing this up.

I hope Hoiberg survives this. It's nice having him at Nebraska since games against his teams there have all been wins for IU. I don't want them to bring in someone better.

What's strange is he finally is bringing in some talent there....with no change in results.
