I don't know man, he wins a LOT of games in the ACC.

Probably correct and maybe I'm just a bit jaded after watching 4 years of Archie and even having to sweat through the precious victories Archie did achieve, but I have a hunch that we'd have the same anxiety watching a Bennett led IU squad. Just the margin for error doesn't seem very high for Bennett and that was a complaint I had for Archie. Might not be so bad though if Bennett could get IU to hit FTs and a solid % from 3PT which cost Archie in his 4 years here.

The difference here is.......vast.

Fair enough, just the play style seems so similar to me. This isn't football and you're not going to shut a team out so you better put the ball in the hole and from what I've seen Bennett's teams don't do that enough.

Play style is definitely similar, Bennett has just proven to do it so, so much better at the same level. (And if he were in the Big Ten, he may actually shut a team out someday)

Again, I get why people aren’t in love with UVA basketball, but for some reason I’ll defend it to the grave.

God, I love watching UVA lose. Their style wins but it’s a pestilence on the game. And when Crean had the pair to take the IU job, Bennett wanted no part of it. So I’m great with him losing. It’s almost personal for me. I just hate what they do and I hate that he didn’t want to take on a tough, high expectation job. Don’t care if he’s great.

I live in Virginia -- and with the obvious exception of today and a handful of other games -- I love watching U.Va. play. And I don't get the dislike of Bennett. Maybe folks don't like how his teams play, and that's fine, but he's a high-quality dude -- top-notch.

Well, they are incredibly efficient.....13th in the nation in efficiency, so they do put the ball in the basket compared to their possessions.  I don't like watching them because of the slow tempo.  The truth is that slow tempo will allow them to stay in games against superior talent but also allow some inferior teams to hang around because of the decreased number of possessions.

That would be the absolute worst thing to happen ever.

Which is why I hope it happens. Out of SPITE.

So Bennet went First Round Exit (as a 1 seed in 2018), Winning NC in 2019, and First Round Exit as a 4 seed in 2021

That is assuming nothing crazy happens in these last few seconds.

Reminds me a little if Knight losing in 86 as a 3 seed,  win a NC in 87 and losing to Richmond in 88 as a 4 seed

We are seriously one week removed from Archie Miller and you would classify that as the worst thing ever?

Even with the national title, Bennett will always have the stain on his resumé of not just losing to a 16 seed, but completely being at the mercy of a 16 seed because his teams can only play at one speed. If we live long enough to see another 16 beat a 1, there's no way it will be anything close to that.

Yes. Because we just spent 4 years of being unable to score... Why go get a coach whose philosophy is to try and not score? We've been bored for years now.. we don't need to continue being bored. We would win... But you'd get less people to watch games at home. They'd just become score checkers.
