My argument might be a little different than those who initiated the opposed viewpoint but as I mentioned above, if our football program was good, don't you think that would make for more passion and excitement for IU athletics which will also help with donations now and the decades to come?

The donations that are coming in are in a lot of ways coming in from work that precious administrations laid. It's a very delayed process. Future administrations are going to have to deal with the mess that has taken place over the last 20 years more than the current regime. The current regime is reaping the rewards from others work. Having a shitty football and basketball program for 20 years is going to come back to haunt the school later

I don't think our football team will help one bit in raising money for basketball specific facilities.

I might be wrong but UKs luxury apartments aren't for any other athletes.

Its up to Archie to have success to get money for that.

I don't think there's an argument that having a better football program would help. The argument is how much it would help.

Regardless, I'd love to have a respectable football program that
1) goes to a bowl game annually
2) consistently sells out home games
3) a source of pride for IU fans and alums
4) helps provide annual revenue

I love IU and want to see all sports prosper. I'd love to see the consistent sell outs at soccer games, women's basketball games having huge crowds, and all other programs being supported to the upmost. I think the administration and student body could do more to get fans in the seats.

Agreed about fostering support for other sports. Would love to see them give a discount on basketball and football tickets if you attend a certain number of other sporting events

How people continue to discredit Haas is amazing to me. Purdue is truly one of the best teams in the country this year. Amazing, considering that roster.

If Purdue keeps this up Painter will be a national coach of the year candidate.

Purdue has no apparent weaknesses. They have size, depth, and shooting. I would take C. Edwards any and every day of the week. With MSU going down at home today, Purdue looks in the driver's seat for back to back conference titles. Like it or not, and I don't, they are a legitimate threat for a deep tourney run.

So MSU has 5 days before their next game with Izzo getting them hungry and angry. I'd hate to be their next opponent.

Uh oh.

We may be just what the doctor ordered!

Michigan State isn’t that good. They’re talented but they can’t put it together. I don’t fear them. Purdue might win the B1G again. But then again, they’re Purdue. They’ll find a way to lose it

I figured they'd be pretty good, even with Swanigan gone, but what I'm struggling to comprehend is how they're THIS good. Is the Big Ten just that bad? Is college basketball that down? Do teams just struggle with their size because it's so unusual for a team to be playing 2 seven footers regularly in this day and age? Was Carsen Edwards just that underrated? Has their senior class just panned out that much better than even they could have envisioned? It just seems like so many things all had to happen for them to reach this point, and every single one of them did. Even crazier when you consider Painter was close to getting fired three years ago.

Yeah Purdue's best teams always peak in late January and early February, (not that we're any stranger to doing that either).

Keep in mind the B1G is really bad this year.  They'll run through the conference then get exposed in the round of 32.

B1G isn’t good. That’s true. And that’s why IU can still finish top 5 in conference

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if they stumble early against an athletic team that can defend. pu will turn it over and take contested threes. They're beatable in the tourney.
