Popular Post BGleas Posted November 18, 2015 Popular Post Posted November 18, 2015 For Yogi it's the same as Crean. Just win and it changes everything. If IU wins the Big Ten and goes to a Final Four this year, Yogi goes from the "AJ Guyton" category to the "Alford, Chaeney, Bailey, Thomas, etc." category. Winning changes a lot. WayneFleekHoosier Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Please stop. I really don't think I'm out of line. Yogi is my favorite player on the team. I am being a little critical, I suppose. My point was we need him to be our closer, ala Trey Burke his final season, or shabazz Napier, or Mario chalmers or those guys the other night. No "foul". Quote

I agree but I place little of the burden on Yogi's shoulders. He's been playing at an elite level since he came in. Gotta have the coaching and support of teammates to win. Not one player wins on their own. Quote
Crimson and Cream Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Not all that great an athlete. Probably wouldn't amount to much more than a back up in the NBA. Don't need back ups, need guys who can become starters He's not a great athlete, but he just does everything well. He wins. Reminds me of a more talented Danny Green (not Draymond). I feel he could be a starter in the NBA. Quote

rebelhoosier848891 Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 If I were picking teams today----I would still pick Yogi over Valentine. Yogi's progress has been amazing. He has a well-rounded game and is a great floor leader who will step up in crunch time and take and often hit the big shot or draw a foul when needed. He has improved his assists and even improved his rebounding. Sometimes I wish he were more selfish in looking for his shot--but he will need to do that in big games or against teams with tough defenses. Glad he's ours and I hope he gets the story-book ending to his career this year! IMO one of if not the best point guards in the country when it's all said and done. Quote

BGleas Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 I agree, but in basketball the best player gets treated like the QB in football. When the team wins they get all the praise and when the team doesn't they get much of the criticism. Not saying it's right or fair all the time, but that's just the way it is. I agree but I place little of the burden on Yogi's shoulders. He's been playing at an elite level since he came in. Gotta have the coaching and support of teammates to win.
