Really interesting.

I don’t imagine this executive order can override established judicial decisions that contradict that order.

On the other hand, the executive branch gets to dictate its funding once Congress has appropriated the funding.

Finally, a targeted class of student-athletes that causes institutional defunding for multiple transfers, when all other student-non-athletes don’t affect that funding with multiple transfers? That seems like trying to thread a legal needle.

@HoosierHoopster, what say you?

ps: this will create more chaos, but in a way is helpful because it could enable an eventual more permanent resolution.

The solution is sitting there whenever schools want to pay the cost.

Collectively bargain with the players.  If schools and players agree on the rules, it all becomes enforceable.

Try to unilaterally impose rules on players — they’ll go to court and win.

Collective bargaining will cost schools more money, so they try to avoid it.  Maybe someday they’ll bite the bullet.

By the way, the focus on players and not coaches who cost a fortune and abandon their teams to take jobs is bit annoying.

Remember the name Logan Chwastyk

I know nothing about his character or the behind the scenes stuff, but he's an impressive big from 2028.

I’m not convinced of that. They keep losing to individual players for a variety of reasons that might not exist if the major conferences banded together for litigation aimed at going up the appellate chain.

You’re seeing public sentiment change a little with legislation introduced and now the executive branch trying to step in

Coaches can't just "transfer" willy-nilly.  There are buyouts to deal with.  NIL Collectives should do the same with players -- you want to transfer after a year, you can buy out your contract.

The NCAA and conferences need help from Congress.  They need relief from the antitrust laws.  I wouldn't  hold my breath waiting for Congress though.

Well then, according to The Sporting News of the 15 greatest players to ever play CBB only 2 played before 1965 and only 1 after 2003 while 12 played in the 38 years in between. That probably clues us in a bit on the age and time period when many of the selectors came of age. Actually don’t think it’s a terrible list with a couple of exceptions: 1) Ralph Sampson was 3-time NPOY and in real time was the best player in CBB by acclimation. It would be more legit to argue whether he was top 5 than not top 15. 2) It’s been forgotten how great Glenn Robinson was because he just sort of disappeared when his career was over. But that dude won a Big 10 and went to the Elite 8 with Cuonzo Martin and a bunch of guys who couldn’t play dead. 3) Pains me to say it, but Edey was the most dominant player of the 21st century. You can’t leave him off a like this.

I’m sure I’m forgetting obvious guys but that’s who leapt to mind.

Danny Manning? Couldn't you also put Randolph Childress too.

How many centers do they put on the same team? Jabbar, Walton and Russell all played center... the all time first team was 3 centers and 2 guards?

This is wild. Prkacin has been playing in the Spanish and French A Leagues for the last 6 years. He 1st declared for the NBA draft in ‘21 before pulling his name. He turns 24 on Thanksgiving.

What are we even doing?

Oh look, here’s Penn St’s newest 1st year college player playing against dudes with beards in La Liga A 3 MONTHS AFTER WOODY WAS HIRED.

I repeat, what are we even doing?

Just one of the reasons I’m so happy that Indiana is dominant in college football, not college basketball. Ain’t no pro league players gonna dominate a team in football, at most it’s a 27-year-old punter from New Zealand.
