They didn't mention this in the article and I don't feel like looking it up but maybe someone knows it off hand here.

The buyout years aren't calender years, does anyone know what the year is? I feel like it's August or July? So like, the buyout dropped to 12 million in the last couple months, and drops to 7.5 a year after that.

Geez, that idiot who wrote this "article" made it seem like Stevens is looking at real estate in Bloomington. It was really a throwaway line from Simmons about Stevens dealing with a rebuilding team. Bill even mentioned UCLA, unaware that Alford has been extended into the next decade.

I believe it dropped to 12 million in August. Next summer it would drop to 7.5 million. It doesn't really matter, though. We're not firing Crean in August.

That sounds right.

And I know, I just couldn't remember and since they mentioned the buy-out I wanted to remember. Thanks!

Another year like last I agree. It would be much sooner probably before the final four so we could have a run at all interested coaches before the others do. If Glass won't do it, he may be soon to follow since he signed off on the worst contract in IU history. He's loyal but not stupid.

I think Crean gets it turned around again this year and our Hoosiers surprise and way out--perform expectations.

If Crean were to have another year like last year or worse---the alumni will demand change----money is no object to the alumni when it comes to IU basketball.

Money will have nothing to do with any decision. I think Crean will be here for a while, though, he'll get us back to winning consistently.

Considering he hasn't had much, if any, consistency in his entire 15 year career I don't have much faith he can, but I'm crazy like that. Being up and down isn't unusual with his teams.

This Brad Stevens thing is so pointless. He's locked in a deal with Boston. They have expressed to the media that the organization has his full backing in the rebuild. If you think Crean's contract is big, you aint seen nothing until you hire an ex NBA coach. Also, Fred Glass will NEVER, I repeat, NEVER accept donor money to get rid of a coach. This is a topic that swirls every single season and every season it doesn't happen. Stop getting your hopes up people. This is about as likely as IU football getting Les Miles. I beg of you all, don't waste your arguments about Crean and his coaching. We've heard all sides. I know most every poster's stance on Crean. This is such a non story wasting another thread will continue this stupid debate. Crean is our coach. Let's see what he does this season before we run him out of town.

Just think for a minute here. What does that say about Glass if he accepts donor money for a coach to be fired? This is a guy who kept Bill Lynch an extra year because he didn't want to be known as an AD who didn't give his coaches chances. This sets a precedent no AD wants. Think about it for one second. If he allows donors to buy out the contract, what happens the next time donors don't like something. They can just throw cash at him to make it go away? ADs don't do that. Especially Glass. I hate Butler, I hate Brad Stevens, and most of all I hate whoever keeps giving anyone in this fan base hope that this will EVER happen. Whether that be the grumpasses at Peegs or Bill Simmons. Remember when Mike Woodson was coming here?
