There was no reason to give any of that up. Ainge offered three first round pick (not Brooklyn's though) and two starters on draft night, that absolutely crushes what Indy got. mdn82 1 Quote

And after the whole OKC and Seattle thing he'd do everything in his power to make sure if he does sell it they would keep it in Indiana. Nothing is certain, but he'd do everything to keep it here. My concern is how casual the fan base is and how pissy they get over the idea of a rebuild. I'll never get the appeal of fighting for the 7/8 seed every year just to be LeBron's ***** in the first round. We don't have to go the whole total suck, screw not trying to win like the 76ers. But we need to rebuild. Quote

Seems to me Ainge has made it pretty clear he's looking at building the Celtics for the long run and PG for 1-year doesn't do anything for that master plan. BGleas 1 Quote
Hoosier Guy Posted July 1, 2017 Posted July 1, 2017 Pacers are stuck in absolute purgatory. Not good enough to win a championship and not bad enough to get a really good draft pick. They should've gone with a rebuild and they didn't. And PG shouldn't have been traded at the deadline? Yeah that was dumb as sh!t Quote

Vic isn't that good, he is an average starter in the league, Teague is probably gone, we don't have a small forward right now, reports are we're open to trading Thad. Pacers are gonna be top 5 draft pick bad this next year. Quote

Yeah, hoping Turner gets somewhere around 15 shots a game. Lets see if he can legit be a #2 or #3 option on a really good/great team, or if he is just gonna be a complimentary piece. I'm hoping we're bad enough to land Doncic or Porter. Maybe Bridges if he takes a pretty big step in his development IUfan_Charlie 1 Quote
IUfan_Charlie Posted July 1, 2017 Posted July 1, 2017 So Dalton, Bam looked pretty good today. Hit a couple nice mid range j's. 1 was a iso pull up and the other was a baseline fadeaway in the post. Quote
Hoosierfan2017 Posted July 1, 2017 Posted July 1, 2017 The East is going to be super boring next year but the West should make up for it. I wish the East was going to be better than it will be though. Quote

Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app I mean boring more in the sense that barring major roster changes there won't be any suspense about who is coming out of the East. The east playoffs will probably be even worse than last year with George and Butler both gone now. bhaggard89 1 Quote

Brass Cannon Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 Wonder if we can get Vic on campus for some recruiting visits now that he will be local. Hoosierfan2017 and Crimson and Cream 2 Quote
TheWatShot Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 The Pacers needed to start rebuilding after Stephenson left and West opted out. All they've done since then is waste two seasons acting like making the playoffs in the East is some sort of accomplishment. I look at the trade as a necessary evil. Keeping George on the team results in another 7-8 seed (yawn) then he leaves and we just start the rebuild a year later. It would have been nice to get draft picks, but no team is giving up draft picks for a one year rental. Honestly, getting Oladipo with his IU ties is a bit of consolation. It may even help IU in recruiting. On one hand, it sucks seeing who I believed would be the centerpiece of the Pacers well into the 2020's leave like this. Then I think of the stupid stuff he's done, his lack of leadership and the fact that this LA thing had probably been festering in that locker room for awhile, and I have no problem with moving on. Not going to wish injury on him, but if he hurts his leg again, I won't feel bad. Quote

We had the group that battled the Bulls, the Knicks, the Heat and the Cavs in the conference finals. They were able to find three different high all star caliber players for three different groups (Miller, Granger and PG). We had the team with Artest and Miller that fell apart in Detroit but had talent to win it all. Prior to the fall out from the brawl Walsh and Bird have built several different teams that went to conference finals on a regular basis. Since the had success building those teams on the fly I am sure they thought they could again this time. Imagine if PG had made the all NBA team and could have signed a mega contract. He was very close to getting this (if he had not played like a dog the first half of the year). If he gets that and stays then the pacers are able to build around him as they have before. moyemayhem 1 Quote
