Was watching at a bar in Chicago last night and it went wild when OG’s shot went in. I’m not sure there was a single person rooting for the Spurs.

Small sample size, but I think you’re dead wrong. They haven’t won enough for people to hate them.

Nope. As a long-time NBA fan I'll echo that most people out there absolutely hate the Knicks. Personally, love OG but Brunson is a total tool of a player, a shot-crazed chucker who doesn't know a good look from a bad one, and all the Knicks do is buy players to be competitive.

The Spurs' 2nd half collapse losing their 27 point lead probably has sealed their fate this year, another sign of how young key players are (Wemby 22, Castle 21, Champagnie 24, Vassell 25, that's 4 starters and Harper is 20). Too bad, imo, both teams winning two away would've (really should've) been a wild Finals.

Spurs are more talented, but still young, inexperienced - their first go round in the Finals. If I were a betting man I'd bet big on their sweeping through to the championship next season, baring major injuries. Kind of reminds me of when the Spurs lost early with Duncan, came back the next season and dominated to the championship.

Maybe back in the day the hatred was stronger across a broader group of folks, but I have seen very little to support that exists now. I'm not saying there aren't a large group of folks that hate the Knicks, but I don't think it's "most" people. And just because you don't like Jalen Brunson, doesn't mean others share that sentiment.

And the one poll I could find doesn't support your notion. 7,085 people is a massive survey FWIW.

America likes the Knicks?

I dunno man.  First, let me say if someone is a Knicks fan on this board I'm not being critical of them.  If they're your team that's cool.  I know a lot of Knicks fans and they're all good.

I'd just be surprised if the rest of the country liked all the performative attention seeking celebs at their games.  Or on ESPN.  Or the way some of their fans behave towards visiting fans the past few years.

Example: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7345653/2026/06/09/nba-finals-spurs-knicks-fans-violence-game-3/

And Knicks fans threw eggs at Wemby last night when they were walking to their hotel -- hit him right on the head.

Maybe no one notices or cares.  Could easily be the case.

I don't really mind this Knicks team.  OG is great, KAT is iffy, the rest are okay and I kinda respect Brunson as a little guy.  Their fans aren't for me.  I'm not too invested but I'd prefer the Spurs.  I don't think I'll get my way... no big deal though.  OG maybe getting finals MVP would be cool.

I like the comparison between the Duncan Spurs and this squad. In fact, next year Wemby will be the same age as Duncan was when they dominated in 99. Big difference is that 99 champ team has the vets the Spurs dont have in key positions. Robinson, Sean Elliiott, Avery Johnson, and Mario Elie all had been around the league between 8-10 years. Agree that this team has more top to bottom talent, but will the young guys be ready to dominate by next year? We will see, but either way this is invaluable experience for the future even if they lose.

I would bet on the Spurs next year if they got a more seasoned, experienced coach.  If Pop was on the bench, they wouldn't have lost that game.  The only positive in the Knicks winning is if OG does get the Finals MVP, but other than that, I would rather see the Spurs win.

Mitch Johnson definitely **** the bed last night, but I would be legitimately shocked if they moved on from him following a Finals run. Unless you meant more experienced assistant coaches, which would be a great move to replace Sean Sweeney.

Sorry, but I’m pulling for the Knicks.  I know everyone dislikes NY, but the Spurs have numerous championships and it’s been 53 years since the Knicks last won it.

He subbed out Duncan in the Finals and they gave up a crucial offensive rebound to cost them the Finals. Funnily enough last night they have their 7’3” center hanging around the 3pt line and…give up a crucial offensive rebound to cost themb the series.

Right there with ya. Probably an unpopular opinion here but also rooting for NYK. Several reasons

1. OG is that dude and I want him to get a ring and Finals MVP.

2. Spurs have won plenty. Knicks fans need this.

3. My team has had plenty of battles with the Spurs so I have grown into a Spurs hater, even if this squad is genuinely likeable.

4. De'Aaron Fox low basketball IQ legitimately got Mike Brown fired from Sacramento (yes yes its a broken franchise but still), and it would be poetic justice to see him win a title over Fox.

Former Starks-era Knicks hater. I really like this Knicks team.

OG

Brunson

Bridges, Hart, Towns.

All good dudes that play with skill, overachieve, and don't whine.

Easy set of players to root for.

If OG wins a second title and a FMVP, at 28, he could very well be on a HOF trajectory with a few more great seasons.

After Zeke, OG may be on the verge of supassing McGinnis and Bellamy for the second greatest Hoosier NBA career ever.

Man Stu, you just massively hurt Mike Woodson's feelings!

Woody was a pretty good NBA player! But both Woody and RMK would agree that Woody was a 'defense optional' player.

I know its his 1st year there but dont forget Jose Alvarado. Born in BK and raised in Queens. Undrafted out of Ga Tech.. Low income grew up Knicks fan but couldn't afford tickets. Now traded to New York and its a literal childhood dream come true. Hollywood wishes it had that script.

As a longtime Pacers fan I’m admittedly biased. That said with no polls to substantiate it, in all the basketball circles I’m in (not sure about this one) the prevailing sentiment is F the Knicks. From their front office to their players, OG aside, yeah, can’t stand them.
