Not really that hard to figure out. Etherington is a wing on a team that already has younger, better wings and is bring a couple more in. If he wanted the chance to play a major role on a team, then transferring was the only way that was going to happen.

 

I do think Crean needs to do some serious thinking about recruiting so many guys who play the same position. It's hard to turn down more talented players, but Crean needs to find some balance. It's hard to have stability and continuity in a program when you lose upper classmen all the time. Experience does help on the court. Upper classmen, even as role players, can help steady and focus the younger guys.

I mean, is anyone really worried about this loss? Glad he helped get Cody but as Rayl pointed out we have so many wings already. He saw solid PT this year but turned down a lot of shots. Other than just personally liking the kid I don't see this as a loss that will affect the team very much next year.

Everyone who has been following IU the past couple months knew this was coming.. why the "sky is falling" attitudes all of a sudden? Sounds to me like we will have better players coming in.

Looks like he was being told his 5th year scholarship wasn't going to be there. ie he had one season left at Indiana not 2. Makes the transfer decision so much easier if you want to play 2 more seasons somewhere.

His value is the highest it's been with his play this year. I'd look at Indiana State and Butler as the big players here.

This is the same guy that ran out on the court during the Michigan game to yell into a mic'd camera letting recruits know that...."YOU wrecked our program!"

So you do not subscribe to the theory that we were inexperienced this year and lacked veteran leadership. That having upperclassmen is important to building success.
