Mike Woodson and His Coaching Staff
Rayl replied to Hoosierfan1901's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I want Calbert. The man knows how to play the game. But, if we're really dreaming, let's get the whole team back together again. Hire Zeke and Landon Turner as assistants. Let's do it '81 style all over again. -

Hi! I haven't been around here for several years. But, there I was on my lunch at work today sitting outside enjoying a nice spring day. Some random guy came by and sat at the bench next to me and saw the IU logo on my jacket. That's who told me we hired a new coach, When he told me who, I sighed. But.... We've recently had a great offensive coach who couldn't coach defense to save his life. Then, we had a great defensive coach who couldn't coach offense to save his life. So, now we have an IU guy. Someone who knows the way it should be. Maybe we have a guy who can just flat out coach? I don't know. But, I'm going to roll with it and find out. Let's do this. Dare I say I have a slight woody for Woody? Nah, that's too cheesy. I'm on board though. -
Post Game Discussion: Indiana - 68 vs Seton Hall - 84
Rayl replied to Trish's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I'm not sure I'd go with fake class UNC as an example of doing things the right way. And, I really wouldn't go with Louisville there. -

(2018) PG Darius Garland to Vandy
Rayl replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
I don't know or care. Vandy is of little concern to me. I care about Archie Miller having success at IU and building his program. If Drew thinks he can build his program with one and dones, best of luck to him. I don't think that needs to be a focus for Archie right now. -
(2018) PG Darius Garland to Vandy
Rayl replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
I think this is good. For long term success in Archie's system the focus needs to be on 3-4 year players who buy into the system and who can play it at a high level when they are upperclassmen. Get that solid base going year after year, and then there will be more success adding in the occassional one and done type. Sure, we might have one a few more games with Garland next year, but what does that really get us? Not another banner. This gives more playing time and coaching time to the players we need to develop long term. -
Game Thread: Howard, Sunday 8pm BTN
Rayl replied to Hoosierfan2017's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I thought Johnson's effort on D was better. But, he's still late on closeouts and doesn't look like he really knows what he's supposed to be doing. The better effort is encouraging though. -
Finally!

Awesome. an anonymous message board poster calling one of the best players to ever put on the Crimson and Cream a POS. Forgive me if I don't take what you say seriously.
-
Crean is a good man. Unfortunately, he's not a good leader of young men. He's simply failed to instill the values of hard work and discipline in his current charges. He's even failed to get them to at the very least be smart enough to try to get away with screwing off. Would firing Crean hurt us in recruiting? I don't know. Does keeping him help us get the kind of players who can win more banners. Imagine you are the parent of a young man. You've raised him to work hard. You've raised him to keep his nose clean and stay out of trouble. You want your son to go to school, do himself proud on the basketball court and get an education. Tom Crean sits down at your kitchen table to talk about your son going to play ball for IU. What would you say to him about that right now? I know what Zeke's momma would have said.

Solution to what? Figuring out how to make the NIT?
-
All due respect to any players' friends and family members that read the board, some of these players can go and be sure to not let the door hit them in the backside on the way out. Some of these players would already be gone if Branch or Bobby were still coaching. If any players want to be about themselves and partying more than they want to be about Indiana basketball and the team, they can go. By all means, they can go. They are not wanted. Their attitude is not what led to the banners and its an attitude that will never lead to hanging more banners.

That's awesome for AJ and well-deserved.
-
I'd settle for pre-rehab Shooter.
-
Also, Bob Knight wrote a book on how to attack a zone. Might be useful.
-
I suggest a book written by Branch McCracken: Indiana Basketball. Crean could learn a lot.
