Regardless of what his handler implies (about shoes), my money is that he's more likely KU's than UK's. I feel like Self is better at developing interior talent versus collecting it. Embiid seems like a good comparison for what Thon should hope to achieve (stock wise).

What we have in our favor is that Thon isn't a typical interior player. He's a 7 footer with guard skills. Cal and Self can't say they've ever played a 4 at PG whereas Crean repeatedly did so with Hollowell (a move nobody here was really a fan of, but nonetheless it's something that let's us stand out where Thon can play basically whatever position he sees fit).

Just look at Cliff Alexander, Thon. Top 5 recruit, decided he was a 1 and done before ever playing a game, now likely a 2nd round pick. You don't want to go to Kansas.

Cliff Alexander is a perfect example of what's wrong with the 1 n done rule.

Also, Trey Lyles' missed 2-3 weeks mid season is still a ? to me. I don't believe that story that was given. Now he's selling shoes, he was selling his services during the season.

Do you think Thon would prefer staying an unknown-known (bolstering why he'd minimize the amount of time he'd play college basketball, by matriculating in December, so that teams have less chance to disect his game AND he'd have the excuse of late integration) in order to maximize his stock on potential OR play for maximum exposure and impact?

I thought if he came in December he wouldn't be draftable until 2017 anyway? It doesn't strike me as the best move to play for a semester then take a year off and hope to still be a high pick.

Can't remember the exact specifics of the rule off-hand, but I believe that a December grad is still eligible.
