Burton had a rough shooting night...1-11. He did appear to jam his finger early on and therefore it was wrapped... so maybe that impacted his shooting. I've watched the last two games and early on Lindsay has been very impressive. Manhertz is getting a lot of run...definitely needs to work on his free throws though. Quote
Hardwood83 Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago It was pretty ugly. Burton was pressing, with some bad TO's besides his poor shooting. Harris wasn't effective at all and Sherrell is clearly still searching for his place in this offense. They were also pretty lazy on defense for stretches. Good news is there is a lot of talent and it appears to be quite a deep team. Lindsay has looked like a baller and Alexis is a huge security blanket in the post. As several people mentioned, the Freshmen are exciting. So if Burton leads and the offense gels this could be a very good team. I suspect it will be frustrating at times though, not like we haven't put up with that the last 10yrs, with lower ceiling teams, though. Stuhoo 1 Quote
schoosier Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago Just watched the game. Burton needs to be pass first and 2nd unless a layup. What does Harris add if he cannot knock down 3’s; start Lindsay. Why doesnt Mustaf do any slashing? Big man too raw for our level of play we want to get-no hook, offensive moves. What did this team cost us in NIL? Team plays like their coach- soft and disinterested. We will be lucky top half Big Ten. RaceToTheTop, J34, Stuhoo and 1 other 4 Quote

DChoosier Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago 14 missed free throws. It almost as if 10 years ago the NCAA initiated a rule stating that IU must not be an elite FT shooting team. Quote

Soft is the last thing that comes to mind. So much drivel in these mediums J34, ronzo4IU, OGIUAndy and 1 other 2 1 1 Quote

So much drivel in these mediums I feel like this will be a good year. I doubt the team is going all out in these scrimmages that they've added. The Big is a grind and you want a healthy team going into Big play and beyond, so I doubt much can be gleaned from these games other than we have some mighty fine players this year and size to boot. Also depth, which was a big issue last year. I like our chances! MonteMarcaccini 1 Quote

I remember going through his game logs after he signed and he is a pretty streaky shooter. And his splits in conference were not great. I guess what I’m saying is, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him feast early like he did in these exhibitions and then regress during conference play. Out of all the guys we brought in he reminds me of last year’s guys the most. He was really productive at a lower level and struggled in the BE a little. Quote

At least they played the best game of the three opponents and it wasn't even close. They are well rounded team who played hard. I would say they had the best individual player we played in exhibition. UNC has a couple of players that will eventually be dominant but aren't yet. Quote

I also believe from game to game and half to half the first five shoukd be fluid. In saying that: Burton having been accustomed to be a scorer on bad teams and Harris being 2 years removed from any promise as an elite shooter concerns me. Based on what I've seen, Yigi, Sam, Mustaf, PAM, and Lindsey would be my first unit in practice this week. I haven’t seen enough of Moody to say that but Lindsay absolutely— DeVries has commented that he’s only coming off the bench to allow for a strong second unit, and he could switch out to start. These are only exhibitions and hard to read much into them but I tend to think Lindsay’s ability to run on ball and lead the team may have been undervalued Quote

I'm sure he already sees the fit issues. We're in a heckuva lot better place than we were last year at this time. Stuhoo, HoosierHoopster, J34 and 3 others 6 Quote
