Home Jersey Posted October 15 Posted October 15 Pat Kelsey eviscerates NCAA lawyer at eligibility hearing: 'You guys aren't gonna end the chaos' The full 27 minute testimony is a legitimately entertaining watch/listen. At one point the lawyer accuses Kelsey of being performative for the cameras and Kelsey says he's just being PK lol. “We didn’t know whether these players were gonna be eligible,” Kelsey said. “Now, all of a sudden, it became where there was a chance fifth-year guys were gonna be eligible. So, we started recruiting those guys in the Portal. To be honest with you, from a coach’s standpoint, every time the NCAA says something, we all shrug our shoulders and go ‘is that gonna stand up? Is that a rule?’ We don’t think there are rules right now. We don’t. We don’t. That’s why we want guardrails. We want congress to act. “We want the chaos to end, because nobody knows what the crap is going on. When somebody says ‘did you know this was going on?’ No, I didn’t. But all of a sudden, fifth year guys are starting to get eligible. We start recruiting these guys. [Lawsuits] are the only way guys can get eligible, because you guys (referencing the NCAA) aren’t gonna end the chaos and just let that class be eligible. The only chance they’ve got is to file lawsuits.” BtownStrength, HoosierReb01, jermhoosierfan and 1 other 1 3 Quote

How much money in lawyer and court fees is the NCAA paying to fight this Class of '22 challenges? I know it looks weak to give up now, but they seem to be spending a ton of money to fight something most anyone paying attention believes they should just let them play this one year. skhoosier2 1 Quote

The NCAA has GOT to pull the plug on this one. Now we’re just talking about straight up competitive imbalance. Kids in Indiana and Ohio playing and kids in Georgia or attached to the Colorado case not playing? C’mon Home Jersey, Class of '66 Old Fart, DChoosier and 1 other 4 Quote
Home Jersey Posted October 16 Posted October 16 Might this come back around in January-ish and become a topic of conversation RE: Sam Alexis? Or do we think we're in the clear? Quote

skhoosier2 Posted October 16 Posted October 16 Good news for the short term. Logged in to X hoping for no news and got emergency stay denied. Rough day for NCAA. Indiana denied their ‘emergency’ stay request and suing the governor of Ohio LOL. If the court reporter pushes all the way until 11/9 to file it could be January before they hear the briefing depending on the courts schedule and how much urgency they think this merits. Daley and Wyatt may stay eligible all season. Longer term worry would be for Sam Alexis. One less thing to worry about for this weekend and next. Quote

Well yeah, but then how else would we end up with teams playing by different sets of eligibility rules, pissing off large swaths of fans and ensuring that the NCAA gets bailed out by Congress? skhoosier2 1 Quote

Doesn't he have Tyson Chicken and some Wal-Mart money behind him now? He could technically be set up in Arkansas if they start to give. skhoosier2 1 Quote
